Biden slammed for letting wife Jill deliver his message in viral video: 'Is she going to debate for him too?'
A video featuring former Vice President Joe Biden and his wife Jill Biden has gone viral on social media, where the latter can be heard lauding his leadership while Biden just looks on silently.
The clip shows Biden, the Democratic frontrunner, oddly frowning as he looks on into the camera, raising speculations from multiple social media users about his mental capacity to lead the country, with some saying that he looks like a "hostage." The clip went viral on Sunday, with many taking issues with Biden staying silent while his wife delivered his message.
The former second lady, in the video, talks about Biden and his leadership as she backed him as the next United States President.
"And together, we’re just getting started. This moment reminds us that the presidency is about true leadership: having the forethought to prepare for the worst, the backbone to lead through chaos, the character to move beyond politics, and serve every American no matter where they live or what they believe," Jill Biden says. "Only one candidate in this election has all three: my husband, our next President of the United States: Joe Biden!"
The former vice president, who continued to maintain an apparent frown on his face throughout the video, only smiles when his wife mentions his name.
"So now we are down to her having to deliver joe’s message while he just kinda stands there. Is she going to debate for him too?" one Twitter user commented on the clip.
While another said: "Joe looks seriously unwell in this video. He is barely keeping it together." A third user wrote: "Joe looks like a hostage! #freejoebiden"
"If I was facing a constant stream of claims that I’m throwing my husband into the most stressful job in the world as his brain turns to tapioca pudding, I probably wouldn’t put out a video where I do all the talking and he looks like someone struggling to stand on his own," another user wrote.
One user slammed the Democratic Party for putting Dem voters in an "impossible position": "So who's running for prez? Joe or Jill? It's become apparent Joe can't even make it through reading script from a teleprompter without Jill's help. Thanks, Obama and the Dem party for putting voters in this impossible position of having to choose between 2 unfit candidates."
At a time when many have begun speculating that the Democratic Party might attempt to replace Biden with another candidate before the election, Biden has continued to rack up endorsements. House Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) became the latest party leader to back the former vice president for the 2020 elections, by calling him "a leader who is the personification of hope and courage, values, authenticity, and integrity."
Her endorsement came days after former President Barack Obama and Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders endorsed Biden for the 2020 presidential run against President Donald Trump.
"I’m proud to endorse my friend @JoeBiden for President of the United States," Obama said in a video endorsement released on April 14. "Choosing Joe to be my vice president was one of the best decisions I ever made, and he became a close friend. And I believe Joe has all the qualities we need in a president right now."
