While the plot details for the film itself are scarce, the 'Beyond Good & Evil' video game has received widespread praise for its storytelling. The game is set in the year 2435 on the mining planet of Hillys which is under alien attack. The game follows the story of a young photojournalist, Jade, recruited to be a part of an underground resistance movement. Jade uncovers a planet-wide conspiracy that the military leaders who were meant to be defending the planet are in fact in cahoots with the alien invaders. A sequel to the 2003 game was officially announced in 2016, although in the years since that has been little word as to the game's development aside from a trailer. The movie will be a mix of animation and live action, much like 'Detective Pikachu.'
There is currently no cast announced for 'Beyond Good & Evil'.
Rob Letterman will be helming the project. The movie is being produced for Netflix by Jason Altman and Margaret Boykin for Ubisoft Film & Television. They are currently looking for a team of writers to plot the movie's story and screenplay.
There is currently no trailer for the movie. However, there is a cinematic trailer for 'Beyond Good & Evil 2' which is a template for what kind of tone is expected for the movie when it comes out. The trailer, released June 11, 2018, is a prequel to the original game, and sees an all-new look for Jade - even though the game is said to be a prequel, set a generation before Jade was born.
