Bette Midler slammed by WOKE MOB for saying women are being ERASED through terminology
Bette Midler took to Twitter on July 4 to express her anguish over women "being erased” and no longer being called “women” but “birthing people.” However, this didn’t go down well on the internet, with many accusing her of being transphobic.
The 76-year-old actress and gay icon, who is known for her character in 'First Wives Club,' tweeted, "WOMEN OF THE WORLD! We are being stripped of our rights over our bodies, our lives and even of our name! They don’t call us “women” anymore; they call us “birthing people” or “menstruators”, and even “people with vaginas”! Don’t let them erase you! Every human on earth owes you!" Although the actress did not mention who she referred to as “they,” as per a DailyMail report, it appears to include anyone who uses inclusive language such as “pregnant people” or “patients seeking abortions” in conversations around reproductive rights. Midler's tweet led to a heated debate and several showered their anger on the star.

Tennis icon Martina Navratilova, who herself was under fire from trans activists when she questioned whether it is fair to let trans women compete in some sports, said with a shocking emoji, "Careful Bette, you will be called transphobic or worse…"

Midler gets bashed on Twitter
Critics on Twitter, however, were less charitable. "It’s because not only women menstruate, give birth, or have vaginas. Trans men do all of these things, as do non-binary folks. I love you so much, Bette, but you gotta do better here," one wrote. The thread elicited a reply from Roxane Gay, the author of the widely popular 'Bad Feminist,' who said, "No one is trying to erase women with inclusive language about people who need abortion care. No one is calling you anything but what you prefer. You should extend that courtesy in return."

Professor and author Chanda Prescod-Weinstein tweeted that it is “heartbreaking” to see this coming from Midler. She said, "The point of the anti-choice movement is to try and control the bodies of people assigned female at birth, including trans men, and force gender identities and gender roles on *all* of us." She continued, "Cis women have nothing to lose and everything to gain by acknowledging the links between the anti-abortion movement and transphobia, which are all about attacking bodily autonomy in support of patriarchal supremacy."
Bette, as a fan, seeing this tweet from you is just heartbreaking. The point of the anti-choice movement is to try and control the bodies of people assigned female at birth, including trans men, and force gender identities and gender roles on *all* of us. https://t.co/xxGbHMri8H

Noted gay rights activist Panti Bliss responded to Midler's tweet by saying, "No. Don’t fall for the anti-trans panic fake nonsense. No one is erasing women. In a few small healthcare cases where appropriate they are using trans inclusive language. That’s all."
