On the final night of the Democratic National Convention on Thursday, August 20, New Jersey Senator Cory Booker had a bone to pick with his Vermont counterpart, Bernie Sanders, and revealed that his girlfriend, actress Rosario Dawson, liked the latter better than him.

In the hilarious exchange over a pre-taped video call with former Democratic presidential candidates, Booker addressed a very important question to Sanders. "Why does my girlfriend like you more than me?" he asked, to which Sanders responded, "Because she's smarter than you and that's the obvious answer." All the participants in the call burst out laughing after hearing his answer.

Booker's reveal was not very unexpected as Dawson revealed on Instagram back in March that she voted for Sanders in the primary. Incidentally, her confession was on the same day that her boyfriend endorsed Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden.

The couple met for the first time at a political fundraiser for a mutual friend. Months after their meeting, they started dating in the fall of 2018. Although both of them kept very different schedules at the time, they made their long-distance relationship work. When they are apart from each other, they tend to catch up over FaceTime calls throughout the day whenever they get free time. A Washington Post profile on the couple in October last year revealed that Booker makes a number of romantic gestures to keep the spark alive in their relationship, which includes sending Dawson music every morning and reading David Benioff’s 'City of Thieves' to her over the phone.

“Look, both of us, you know, we’ve had relationships, but I’m not sure if I’ve ever fully given myself over to a relationship as much as I have with her and allowed myself to be as vulnerable,” Booker told the Post in a candid confession. “For my whole life, I’ve always felt like, even when I got into a relationship, I was trying to be the center of the storm and everything was just this maelstrom out there. But for the first time, I feel like I have someone in the center of the storm with me."

The 41-year-old actress and her political boyfriend, 51, are planning to move in together as the next level of their relationship, the former revealed at the Mooby's Pop-Up in Los Angeles. She said that she had not met the senator after the shelter-in-place orders were implemented amid the coronavirus pandemic and as a result had been forced to spend time apart from each other. This fact influenced their decision to move in together.

“I haven’t seen him since February. He is by himself, going between Newark and DC,” she said. “I’m actually in the process of moving, by the way. I’m going to New Jersey. I’m moving to Newark. It's time. We were thinking about moving in together anyway, but especially during all of this, it’s been really intense. I'm excited."

The actress had been on the West Coast busy taking care of her father, who went through surgery for pancreatic cancer last year in November. She also stars in Kevin Smith's 'Jay and Silent Bob' sequel.
