The much-awaited episode of 'Bering Sea Gold' is finally here. One of the special segments in the season trailer was the trouble Myrtle Irene was in. Ken Kerr's dredge was seen getting buffeted by the fierce storm that hit the Bering Sea and we could see Emily Riedel declare it as the end of the dredge in the clip. This two-part episode gives a look at the monstrous waves that hit the Irene as it tries to stay afloat while the rest of the skippers watch helplessly.

The gold hunt continues and by the looks of it, Shawn Pomrenke, Emily and Kris Kelly too have had a first taste of the storm. But it does look like they made it back safe and sound leaving a question mark over Kerr's fate. As far as the standings go, Kerr still leads the pack as he rakes in almost three-figure ounces almost every episode. Shawn is in hot pursuit while Emily and Kelly use their divers to keep adding to their gold quota to invest in a bigger dredge.

Prior to the storm, the Myrtle Irene had spud issues a couple of episodes ago, and just when it seems like they have vaulted one obstacle, they're up against some new trouble. This time, things are a lot more serious. It isn't easy to watch as the Irene is on the verge of capsizing and Kerr is nowhere to be seen. This setback could also dent his mining operation severely. For now, the only hope is Kerr, the crew and the Irene make it back to Nome harbor safe and sound.

It has been a thrilling season of 'Bering Sea Gold' so far. From flaring tempers, change in personnel and a bit of drama to some cutthroat rivalry and a raging storm, the installment has seen it all. Now what we get to see is a strong storm that might just determine the future of Kerr's mining operation. Only time will tell how things will end for the current Mr Gold.

'Bering Sea Gold' Season 9 airs on Fridays at 8 pm ET on Discovery.
