'Bering Sea Gold' Season 9 Episode 1: Shawn Pomrenke's fans call Ken Kerr a 'con' for manipulating bet

Captain of the Christine Rose, Shawn Pomrenke hasn't had an ideal start in this season of 'Bering Sea Gold'. After losing the "Mr. Gold" title to fellow competitor, Ken Kerr, skipper of the Myrtle Irene and his ship due to a deal went terribly wrong, Shawn has a task ahead of him just to get back in the game.

In the season opener, Shawn was seen reflecting on how the odds were stacked against him but the man was doubly confident he would be up and running in no time, even as Kerr was off to a head start. 

Shawn fans have come to the rescue. "What they did to Shawn was NASTY....what a setup to take him out..hope the Myrtle sinks," a fan tweeted. "You know we will be there for you," wrote another. While Kerr had a fair share of some classic fan-bashing. "Ken Kerr should be ashamed not bragging! Manipulating a bet with Shawn when the camera was rolling, betting his dredge against the Christine Rose which can not run even 1/4 of the pay dirt the Myrtle Irene runs is what a con does. He will NEVER be Mr. Gold! #BeringSeaGold" a fan exploded. 

"Ken should have his own show.......so I dont have to suffer through his scenes waiting on the OG's...#BeringSeaGold," another fan remarked. "Now how can that ass rag ken Kerr say his giant dredge is better than the rest when its 10× the size of nomes biggest? he better be getting those numbers #BeringSeaGold," read a fan tweet. 

One of the storylines was about captain Kris Kelly's brother Andy who couldn't fit into his diver's suit after packing some pounds in the offseason. "Damn! @beringseagold Looks like the one Kelly brother Andy has been mining donuts all winter! #beringseagold," a fan teased. 

Shawn's fans will be hoping to see the former "Mr. Gold" get back in the middle of the action and would have an "Oh, yeah!" moment when he takes a dig at the Irene calling it a "Myrtle Turtle".  And hopefully, he gets to reclaim his title this season.
