'Below Deck Mediterranean': Is Malia White not yet ready to commit to long-term boyfriend Tom Checketts?
Malia White and Tom Checketts first met in October 2018. Ever since then, they have been in a long-distance relationship. And so, them wanting to spend every minute with each other would make sense. 'Below Deck Mediterranean' Season 5 gave the couple an opportunity to blend work with romance, but will it be successful? Workplace relationships often result in differences among couples but this one seems to be knowing what they are doing.
Tom had sneaked in a two-day visit to his travel schedule so that he and Malia could spend some time before he jets off to see his unwell uncle in the United Kingdom. But Malia surprised him with a job offer. Sandy further explained the situation and asked if he could help the crew out because their chef had just quit and Tom gladly obliged.
Malia didn't orchestrate the whole thing but she was more than happy to have Tom on board. But, is she ready to commit yet? When the season began, she had a chat with ex-roommate Hannah Ferrier about being in a long-distance, long-term relationship. However, the tone of that seems to have changed with time. In her confessional, Malia said, "When we first met, we were in Fiji. We knew each other for like four weeks. And then, I was in New Zealand, he was in England. All over the globe. It's like when you get time together, it's amazing. He's definitely worth fighting for. I was about to say the one, but hang on."
So, Is Malia not ready to commit to Tom? Time will tell. For now, it's easy to see that she is invested in him and wants to make sure that they are spending a lot of time together. It seems, for them, it's a first-date every time they meet because they spend massive periods of time apart. But them working in the same crew and sharing a cabin together will work positively for their relationship.
