‘Below Deck’ fans love their chief stew, Kate Chastain, and there’s no denying that she is extremely charming and witty. So, in the latest episode when she was left crying her eyes out over what Brian de Saint Pern called her, fans were left feeling divided.

The crew was sent out for a day of rest and relaxation to a resort. On their way back, Kate compliments Brian that she loved the way he behaved in the resort. Brian thanks her. Then Kate calls him a “yachtie”, although she meant it as a compliment, he makes it very clear to her that he doesn’t like being called “yachtie”. He then explains that it’s like a derogatory term used to describe people who just get paid exorbitant amounts of money for just cruising in a yacht doing nothing, and he doesn’t like that. Kate being Kate refuses to back down and insists on calling him a yachtie and goes on to describe what the word means according to her.

Despite Brian’s repeated requests, she keeps calling him that which makes him call her a “b**ch”. Kate immediately takes offense to it, and jumps off the car, and walks back to the yacht. Brians goes and apologizes to her, she half-heartedly acknowledges it. Fans were left feeling divided over the situation. While they got Brian’s reservations with the term they also felt that he took it the wrong way as opposed to what Kate meant.

Fans who are firmly on Kate’s side insisted that Brian better make up to her for making their favorite reality star cry. A fan tweeted, “@Kate_Chastain was legit trying to give Brian what’s his face a real compliment n a positive reasoning and he saw it as an insult...what a ding bat...probably because he had that rude ass chef with a complex in his ears earlier #belowdeck @bravotv”.

Another fan wrote, “Even if you feel like the word “yachtie” has a bad meaning, it’s VERY clear that Kate was giving Brian a compliment. Totally unnecessary for him to be such a douche canoe. TAKE IT BACK and befriend Kate so I can like you again.#BelowDeck”.

A fan, who felt Kate was out of line by toying with Brian’s boundaries, called her out for it.

A fan commented, “Brian respectfully asked Kate to not call him a "yachtie" but she keeps calling him that. I guess she was coming from a good place but he doesn't want to be called that #BelowDeck”.

Another fan expressed, “But didn't kate start it? brian asked her not to call him a yachtie and she did so repeatedly. kate needs to check her bad attitude. #BelowDeck.”

“I’m usually here for her sarcastic quips but it just got to be too much. As for Brian he repeatedly asked her respectfully to stop with the term 'yachtie' but her attitude wouldn’t let her hear it. I think hearing HIM call her that finally hit that shame/guilt nerve. #BelowDeck,” shared a fan.

“Wait a second. Yachtie is not always a compliment and @brian_pern sincerely asked @Kate_Chastain to stop calling him that and she continued to do so! Brian should not have called her a bitch and Kate should have respected his initial request. They are both wrong! #BelowDeck,” pointed out a fan.

‘Below Deck’ Season 7 airs every Monday at 9 pm ET/PT only on Bravo.
