In news that's sure to break the hardest heart, Modern Family's beloved pooch Stella has passed away only days after filming the finale episode. The French bulldog Beatrice essayed the role of Stella for over 7 seasons since she was introduced in the fourth.

According to The Blast, Beatrice suddenly passed away a few days after completing filming for the finale episode on February 21. Although she only entered the legendary sitcom in season 4, her character has existed since season 2 when Jay Pritchett reluctantly adopts a dog. While another French bulldog Brigitte appeared in two seasons, Beatrice replaced her from season 4 onwards. She soon became a fan favorite and Gloria Pritchett’s (Sofia Vergara) nemesis, as Jay unexpectedly grows extremely dear to his pet pooch.

Meanwhile, ‘Modern Family’ fans are devastated by the sudden death of Stella, and have taken to social media to lament. While one ‘Modern Family’ fan wrote, Damn coronavirus and now this news?! Oh Stella Bella, you will be missed. 😔 #RIP Beatrice.”

“OMG Not Stella, NOOOOOOOOOOOO #RIP Beatrice,” mourned another.

“HE DOG FROM MODERN FAMILY DIED WHAT THE FUCK??!” added another.

Beatrice shared a warm relationship with the ‘Modern Family’ cast, especially her on-screen parent Ed O’ Neill. Her owners Guin and Steve Solomon, in conversation with Bodie on the Road said, “Ed O’Neill is in love with her! It’s very easy working with him because he brings Beatrice treats like popcorn and always looks out for her – like we’ll be doing scenes in the backyard by the pool and in between takes he’ll say, “Would you please get Beatrice an umbrella, she’s in the sun!”’ They further revealed that Sofia Vergara wasn’t all thrilled about Beatrice, similar to her character’s treatment of Stella.

Commenting on this Guin and Steve said, “The character is true to form about how she is! She’s from Colombia so dogs are dirty to her. She wasn’t that thrilled when Stella was put introduced to the show so we respectfully keep our distance!”
