'B Positive' Episode 5 Preview: Is Gina about to insert herself into Drew and Julia's divorce?
Drew (Thomas Middleditch) and Gina (Annaleigh Ashford) have not been the best at establishing boundaries with each other. Then again, when you're about to share a kidney and are living under the same roof, it can be hard to know exactly where to back off - and for someone as free-spirited as Gina, it's even harder. She's inserted herself squarely into Drew's life, and as Drew's divorce proceedings begin in earnest, she might just be about to make things a whole lot more complicated.
Last episode is when we saw just how comfortable Gina is making herself in Drew's life. Not only did she move in with Drew, along with her dog, her mini-brewery, her TikTok dance sessions and a number of other personal quirks, but she also made herself known to Drew's ex-wife, Julia (Sarah Rue), and his daughter, Maddie (Izzy G). In fact, it was Gina herself who accidentally broke the news to Julia that Drew was in need of a kidney transplant.
On the next episode of 'B Positive', Drew's got some difficult divorce mediations to go through with Julia. Though the two are on relatively good terms, divorce is never easy, especially with a child involved, and Drew is going to come out of it a little worse for wear. Coupled with all of his worries related to his upcoming surgery and mounting medical costs, and Drew isn't going to be in the best of moods. Enter Gina, who is so against seeing anyone unhappy that she offered her kidney to a relative stranger, no questions asked.
The only question is, how far is Gina willing to go to cheer Drew up? A lack of boundaries is one thing when you're organ-donor buddies sharing a house, and another thing entirely when complicated divorce mediations are underway. Is Gina about to make a major legal mess for Drew? The official synopsis for this episode, entitled 'Joint Pain', reads "After Drew goes through a rough divorce mediation with Julia, Gina gives him a surprise to boost his spirits."
