James Tynion IV's current 'Batman' run is shaping up into a truly epic story. The writer has been setting up a 'Joker War' event for quite some time with the impending conflict between the Clown Prince of Crime and the Dark Knight set to shake things up in a major way for the DC Comics universe and deliver a lasting punchline.

In the run-up to 'Joker War', Tynion has introduced a new fan-favorite character called Punchline who is the Joker's new girlfriend, described as the anti-Harley Quinn. During an Ask Me Anything session on Twitter, the writer confirmed that the character will survive the end of the coming conflict and stick around for a lot more stories to come.

"How many stories do you have planned for Punchline?" A fan asked, to which the writer responded tweeting, "A lot of them. Not putting all these fun new toys in the toybox not to play with them! Stay tuned, but there are post-Joker War plans for sure."

The 'Joker War' storyline is set to begin in 'Batman' #95 but it will be a while before the story begins. In an earlier Twitter post, Tynion had revealed that the next issue of his run, 'Batman' #92, won't be arriving till June.

"Just got the go ahead to let all of you know that we're holding Batman #92 back for a June release, so we can make sure to get it to as many of you as possible on its release day," Tynion wrote. "I am very, very excited for you all to read it! #PunchlineIsComing."

Meanwhile, elsewhere in the AMA session, Tynion also shared his favorite 'Batman' story writing, "If Dark Knight Returns was the only Batman comic book that ever existed, you would still be able to list Batman as one of the greatest comic characters of all time."

He also spoke about how Neil Gaiman's 'The Sandman' was the book that made him want to write comics and teased his involvement with DC's upcoming event 'Dark Nights: Death Metal'.

"You'll see my name on some cool things when solicits get up and running again," he teased. "We've been cooking all of this story for a long time, really excited for you all to read it."
