Former president and first lady, Barack and Michelle Obama, celebrated their 27th wedding anniversary on Thursday, October 3, with each sharing adorable, never-before-seen photos of them together.

The 58-year-old former POTUS posted a snap of the two enjoying a serene sunset in a wide-open field in Tanzania with their back turned toward the camera as his 55-year-old wife held him from behind. "Like the Beatles said: It’s getting better all the time. Thanks, babe, for 27 amazing years!" Barack wrote.

The 'Becoming' author, on the other hand, shared a picture of her and her husband smiling standing on a porch looking over a marina in Martha’s Vineyard, which is a vacation spot favored by the couple. Michelle captioned her post, "27 years ago, this guy promised me a life full of adventure. I’d say he’s delivered. Here’s to our next chapter of becoming empty nesters and discovering what’s next—while still feeling the magic that brought us together all those years ago. Happy anniversary, Barack."

The pictures were posted within an hour of each other. The Obamas dated for three years after they met for the first time at a law firm in Chicago where Michelle was assigned to Barack. They tied the knot on October 3, 1992.

Talking about their relationship, Michelle told People magazine last year: “We are finding each other again. We have dinners alone and chunks of time where it’s just us... What we were when we started this thing: no kids, no publicity, no nothing. Just us and our dreams.”

Before their wedding anniversary last year, Michelle shared a throwback photo of their wedding day, of the moment Barack as removing her garter belt at the reception.

“You can’t tell it from this photo, but Barack woke up on our wedding day with a nasty head cold,” she wrote in the caption. “Somehow, by the time I met him at the altar, it had miraculously disappeared and we ended up dancing almost all night.

She added, “We’re still having fun, while also doing the hard work to build our partnership and support each other as individuals. I can’t imagine going on this wild ride with anybody else.”
