'Bad Boys: Ride or Die' Ending Explained: Mike takes ultimate risk to heroically save Marcus
MIAMI, FLORIDA: 'Bad Boys: Ride or Die' will hit the theaters on June 7, 2024. The film is an exciting revamp of the cult franchise that takes its viewers on a roller-coaster ride of emotions as our favorite bad boys Marcus Burnett (Martin Lawrence) and Mike Lowrey (Will Smith) entertainingly take on the drug cartel to clear Captain Howard's (Joe Pantoliano) name.
The nostalgic treat sees Marcus and Mike, who are battling with their middle-aged conundrums team up with an unlikely ally in Mike's son Armando (Jacob Scipio), who has a redemption of sorts as he works with the good guys in this installment of the franchise.
The quest to clear Howard's name pits Mike and Marcus against the cartel who hire an assassin named McGrath (Eric Dane) to neutralize the boys. What's also interesting throughout the film, is that the cartel seems to be one step ahead of the boys, ambushing them multiple times as they collect evidence.
Lockwood is revealed to be involved with the cartel
Rita (Paola Núñez) who is in a relationship with Lockwood (Ioan Gruffudd) intentionally reveals information to him to catch him leaking information about Mike and Marcus to the cartel. The boys are sure of Lockwood being a mole and have set this up with Rita.
A violent confrontation between Rita and Lockwood ends in Lockwood being taken into custody. He admits to his link with Mcgrath and the boys along with Rita and Kelly (Vanessa Hudgens) use AI to contact Mcgrath.
They call him to an alligator park where the final confrontation is set to happen.
Mike has to choose between Marcus and Christine
An action-packed fight ensues with the cartel going up against the police and Mike and Marcus. During the fight sequence, Marcus gets bitten by an alligator, and his mobility is affected.
By the time the fight ends, Mcgrath holds Christine (Melanie Liburd) and Marcus at gunpoint and Mike who is struggling with a panic attack has to choose between the two.
Mike takes a daring decision and shoots Marcus in the chest to distract McGrath and kills him with fatal gunshots. Marcus meanwhile survives theatrically because he is wearing a bulletproof vest.
Judy Howard lets Armando walk away
Judy Howard (Rhea Seehorn) who is looking to avenge her father's death finally has Armando at gunpoint. She is about to pull the trigger when her daughter Callie (Quinn Hemphill), who Armando had saved earlier stops Judy from killing Armando.
Armando walks away free and goes back to the drug cartel after earning a redemption arc for himself. Mike and Marcus get back to enjoying their life as everything gets back to normal and Howard's name gets cleared of corruption charges.
