'Backstreet Rookie' Episode 7 begins with Saet-byul (Kim Soo-hyung) clearly telling Dae-hyun (Ji Chang-wook) that she will no longer be working with him at the convenience store. However, she doesn't reveal the reason why and this leaves Dae-hyun conflicted because he is also guilty about having wanted to fire Saet-byul. He did not change his mind, but was interrupted before he could go with his instinct. Now, he wonders if there was something that he had done for Saet-byul wanting to quit.

When Saet-byul gets out of the hospital and arrives at home, she finds out that she is one of the customers who was scammed by the real estate company with whom she had signed a yearly contract. All the things inside her house gets moved and she and her sister Eun-byul are left with nowhere to go. Saet-byul understands that her friend Eun-bin's father doesn't like her, so she has no one to turn to for help and ends up renting a motel room for herself and her sister.

Eun-byul is embarrassed that she has to go to school from a cheap place such as this and she lashes out at her sister for getting scammed. At this time, Saet-byul ends up signing up to deliver things and the high salary forces her to speed more times than not. One such time, she also meets with an accident and has to move to a jjimjilbang (sauna). Her sister is not concerned about Saet-byul's struggles because she believes that she will be able to repay her for all the hurtful things she has said and done if she did become an idol.

Eun-byul gets hired by a firm as a trainee with opportunity to debut sooner than later. In preparation, Eun-byul apologizes to her sister and while Saet-byul is asleep, she leaves with all the money that Saet-byul had saved up until then. Saet-byul, who had until that moment taken everything in stride and worked hard to move forward, seems to have reached her threshold because we see her have a meltdown finally. She tries to reach her runaway sister. However, it is of no use and it is this desperate girl that Dae-hyun's mother ends up finding at the jjimjilbang.

Dae-hyun hadn't informed his family that Saet-byul had quit and even while his mother finds Saet-byul, she is not informed about getting scammed out of her apartment. So Dae-hyun's mother ends up spending some time with Saet-byul. While Saet-byul has tried to stay away from Dae-hyun and not become a problem to his relationship, Yeon-joo hasn't been doing her best in keeping her relationship with Dae-hyun stable. Instead, she doesn't even take the effort.

When Dae-hyun buys special opera tickets to celebrate 1,000 days of dating, Yeon-joo decides to lie to him and ends up going to the same opera with her friend and director Seung-joon and other influential people. She is embarrassed of Dae-yun and doesn't have the guts to accept the fact that she doesn't think of him as an equal. When she does come to the conclusion that it was not her mother who hurt Dae-hyun but herself, things don't change.

So when at the end of the episode we see Saet-byul appear from inside Dae-hyun's house, it seems quite fair. Dae-hyun's mother hears from one of the neighbors that Saet-byul was scammed and ends up bringing her home because she sees a kindred spirit in Saet-byul who does her best to support her troublesome sister. Now that things have turned out so, how will Yeon-joo face Dae-hyun?

'Backstreet Rookie' originally airs on SBS on Fridays and Saturdays at 10 pm KST.
