'Backstreet Rookie' Episode 12 promo hints at Dae-hyun getting jealous of Saet-byul and Ji-wook
Saet-byul's friend Kang Ji-wook (Kim Min-kyu) telling Dae-hyun (Ji Chang-wook) that he would prefer that his friend's boss not mislead her if he didn't intend to seriously date her left Dae-hyum flummoxed in 'Backstreet Rookie' Episode 11. Now, in the promo of the upcoming episode 12, we see Dae-hyun begin to play close attention to how Saet-byul (Kim Yoo-jung) interacts with her friend and how he, in turn, acts around her. In fact, he seems extremely distracted when the two of them step aside to talk and this distraction may disturb the shoot that Ji-wook is a part of.
When Saet-byul approaches Dae-hyun to tell him that she needs to step out with Ji-wook as the two have someplace to be, Dae-hyun strangely asks Saet-byul if he can tag along as well. This is strange because Dae-hyun has never been so involved with Saet-byul's everyday life. Even Saet-byul finds Dae-hyun's interest weird and that is portrayed in the teaser. Is this jealousy that we are seeing taking root in Dae-hyun now that he is told that he cannot be interested in Saet-byul or is this just concern for his employee?
Saet-byul, however, is the same. She cannot take anyone insulting her boss and during the advertisement shoot, Dae-hyun is continually insulted by his former colleague from the head office of his convenience store franchise. He is the same man who enjoyed gossiping about Dae-hyun's relationship with Yeon-joo and that of Yeon-joo's with Seung-joon. He continually looked down on Dae-hyun and he does so in front of Saet-byul as well, but she cannot take it and is ready to bite his head off for being disrespectful. However, before she could say something that she would end up regretting, Dae-hyun stops her.
Saet-byul questions this man about why he couldn't provide feedback or observe changes without being disrespectful. This is going to be playing out in Yeon-joo's presence and it would be interesting to see how this scene pans out. With just about five episodes left before the show comes to an end and no romantic progression between Dae-hyun and Saet-byul, we wonder where this show is headed at the moment.
The promo also hints at Saet-byul's sister Eun-byul facing a problem of her own. The bully who had attacked Saet-byul earlier in the show is someone who Eun-byul had to put up with while she trained to be an idol and now, this bully is back after she learns about Eun-byul's debut as an idol and her showcase. This may cause distraction because we see Eun-byul take a fall on stage while performing. Will Eun-byul's connection to the bully spell the young aspiring idol's downfall? We would have to watch out for the same in the episode.
'Backstreet Rookie' originally airs on SBS on Fridays and Saturdays at 10 pm KST.
