Anti-vaxxer mom's baby died of suffocation from co-sleeping and not due to the vaccines as she had claimed
The child of an anti-vaxxer, who is an active member of the anti-vaccine movement, died due to suffocation and not due to injections as the mother had earlier claimed. 6-month-old Evee Clobes had died after her mother Catelin Clobes, 30, took her for her six-month vaccinations on March 1. The medical examiner ruled the cause of death of the baby whose face was used in anti-vax campaigns, as asphyxiation due to co-sleeping with her mother.
According to the report by NBC News, Clobes had spent February 28 with her daughter and went to sleep on their Queen size bed after breastfeeding her and having a whiskey cocktail afterward. When the mother woke up, her infant wouldn't "stir" and was "cold to touch". She called 911 and reportedly said, Clobes told investigators. "This can't be real," Clobes said, according to the transcript, "This is because she was sleeping with me." The report states that the investigator on the case found marks on the baby's face that could have come from a blanket. "Areas of her nose, chest, arms, and legs were discolored and pooled with blood, indicating Evee had been face-down for some time," the report said.
Initially, the cause of death was undermined but at Clobes's request, another review was done. This time, it was determined as suffocation. "There are no scene or autopsy findings and no scientific literature to support vaccination as a cause of, or contributor to, Evee's death," the Wright County medical examiner, Dr. A. Quinn Strobl, said in a letter to the mother. However, she refused to believe it.
"As you are aware, Evee wad found dead in an adult bed which also contained you, an adult-sized comforter, and adult-sized pillows, factors which create an unsafe sleeping environment for an infant. All photos of Evee clearly show pooling of the blood over the front of her body and face, indicating that she was face-down in the bed when she died and for some time afterward; this is supported by the presence of purge fluid on the sheet in the area where Evee was sleeping," he further added.
"I safely co-slept with my daughter, that has nothing to do with her death," the mother reiterated.
