At the time, she was pregnant with her son and was rushed to a hospital but was dead on arrival.

Doctors however had managed to safely deliver her child named "Baby Messiah" via C-section at the time. But the newborb baby has now also died, his grandmother Katina confirmed. The devastated woman told KARE 11 that the little one had been on a ventilator which was removed Tuesday night, January 17.

Earlier, after losing her daughter and her grandson in the ICU after his birth, Katina had told CBS News, “I need him to pull through this. I want him to. I can't lose both of them, not right now, no. He lost a lot of oxygen to the brain, so he has no brain functioning right now. I'm holding onto faith. I'm praying. God got the last word, so hopefully, He gives him to me.”

A GoFundMe was also initiated to help the grieving family. The message that came with the fundraiser read, “Hi everyone my name is Samantha Scott. I am the oldest sister of this intelligent queen who lost her life due to gun violence at the hands of her child's father in Lakeville Minnesota. My sister Kyla was 31 years old and was 9 months pregnant on January 8. She was shot and killed and my nephew was forced to be delivered but is fighting for his life. She leaves behind 4 children aged 10,7,2 and her newborn who is fighting to live.”

“Please donate to help my mother and her family give her a proper funeral service and help with expenses to continue to care for her four children and please keep her baby boy my nephew and family in your prayers. All donations will be going to our Mother Katina Scott O’Neal,” it added.

The fundraiser has received a lot of supportive comments. A person wrote, “We are very heartbroken to read about Kyla. Please accept this small donation on behalf of Be the Voice! Continued prayers for the family and baby Messiah!” Another person shared, “My heart hurt so hard to hear this story. Wish I could pay for the whole service. My Condolences to the Entire family, and friends of Kyla O'Neal. You all and her kids and her newborn baby boy will be in my prayers.”

“I’m praying for your family and her children and that baby boy survives and thrives and grows strong and healthy, in Jesus' Name!” the third one commented and the fourth person added, “God's love shall cover her family in Jesus name.”

Meanwhile, a 32-year-old man named Donte Raphael McCray has been identified as the alleged killer of Kyla. He is currently facing second-degree murder charges. Previously, Dakota County Attorney Kathy Keena had stated that he might face new charges if baby Messiah did not make it.
