IT'S A GIRL! Michigan couple ecstatic about first daughter born to family in 138 YEARS!
CALEDONIA, MICHIGAN: A Michigan couple is over the moon after welcoming the first daughter in their family in 138 years. Carolyn and Andrew Clark welcomed baby Audrey on March 17, making her the first girl to be born on Andrew's side of the family since 1885.
Carolyn said that she was left stunned when she came to know her husband's family's unique gender history. The mother revealed that Andrew's family was shocked when they learned they would be having a baby girl.

Clark family details experience
While speaking to Good Morning America, Carloyn explained she first discovered that Andrew's family hadn't had a girl in over 130 years when they were dating. She added that she did not buy his story even after coming after to know about it. "I'm like, 'Oh, it's a 50-50 chance every time. What do you mean?" He goes, "No, legitimately, we have not had a girl in our direct line in over 100 years."' Carolyn recalled.
The mother of two even asked Andrew's parents to confirm the story. His family told her that they "hadn't had a girl in our direct line", explaining that his "uncles and cousins have had girls", there has not been a girl in the family's direct lineage. Carolyn tragically suffered a miscarriage in January 2021 and now welcoming the first daughter in 14 decades was even sweeter for the entire family.
Carolyn did not care if the baby was a boy or a girl
She noted that when they learned about her pregnancy, she was just overjoyed to be having a healthy baby and was not bothered if the baby was a boy or a girl. "It was just icing on the cake that it was a girl," she added. Andrew's family was shocked when the lovebirds revealed the baby's sex when the family gathered last September to celebrate their pregnancy.
"We kept it a secret to ourselves as well. So I just assumed it was going to be blue in the center of the cookies and it'd be another boy in the lineage," Andrew told GMA. He added that he was "shocked" when he saw the center of the cookies was pink, revealing that a girl was on the way. "It was a good surprise for us," he said. Carolyn said the family is "so happy' that they can finally have a life with Audrey and that she is healthy."
