Drew (Thomas Middleditch) is desperate enough to do whatever it takes for him to get a healthy, safe kidney transplant before his condition gets any worse. Unfortunately for him, his one kidney donor, Gina (Annaleigh Ashford) has a tendency towards indulgence, making it an especially hard challenge for her to keep away from drugs and alcohol for three weeks in a row for the kidney transplant. To keep an eye on her - and to help her out of a tough spot - Drew invites her into his home. Sitcoms being what they are, this may very well be the start of a will-they, won't-they situation, but how well does surgery and romance mix?

Two straight, single people whose circumstances bring them together under one roof who then start to develop romantic feelings for each other is a trope that's been used time, and time again, and Chuck Lorre comedies aren't known for shucking off sitcom tropes. As the only two singles featured on the show, a romantic entanglement is all but inevitable, and moving in together has certainly sped up that process.

So far, however, there have been no real hints at romance between the two. No quiet moments, no lingering looks, no accidental flirtations - there hasn't even been any sexual innuendo inadvertently thrown into the mix. The closest thing we've had to that is one of the residents at the old home Gina works in, who believes that Gina should get together with the man she'll be sharing a kidney with. However, even this old woman drops the idea as soon as she sees Drew in person, believing that Gina could do a whole lot better.

Is it possible for Gina and Drew to avoid the trope and just remain friends bound by their unique circumstances? It seems unlikely, but from the synopsis of the next episode, it does appear that Gina's move is already driving Drew insane, and not in a good way. Still, frustration is often a door to deeper feelings, so romance may still be on the cards. After all, Gina's already given Drew a kidney - it's only fair that Drew reciprocates by giving her his heart.

The official synopsis for this episode, entitled 'Foreign Bodies', reads: "As Gina makes herself at home in Drew's house, Drew begins to question whether he made the right decision."

This episode of 'B Positive' airs on Thursday, November 19, at 8.30 pm ET, on CBS.
