'Awkwafina Is Nora From Queens' Episode 1: 'Adorable' grandma is the whole show, say fans
The first episode of 'Awkwafina Is Nora From Queens' aired on Comedy Central on January 22 and fans flooded social media with their love and appreciation. The semi-autobiographical show revolves around 27-year-old Nora Lum and her daily struggles with the woes of adulthood. Nothing goes right for her and neither is she keen to fix it herself. To top it all, she stays with her cussing grandmother (Lori Tan Chinn) and wearied father (BD Wong), which just adds to her topsy-turvy life.
On the whole, fans seemed to have enjoyed the show and found it 'hilarious'. One fan wrote, "Awesome Awesome Awesome."
Another tweeted, "Tumbled across Nora From Queens and this show is funny AF."
There's full appreciation for the grandmother as well. One fan tweeted, "Grandma has me in tears..."
"Hey it's Grandma! You doing okay?" "...yeah" "Oh you can't fool me, I know you taking sad SHIT." #Awkwafina straight shitting right then and there. Grandma is this whole show lol," wrote a fan.
A viewer exulted, "Her grandmother is ADORABLE."
"This show is hilarious, haven’t laughed this much in forever!" tweeted a fan.
The first episode shows Nora trying to go about her daily life with her job as a part-time Uber driver, but she can't seem to catch a break. "This first episode really showing us the bottom for Nora I’m already looking forward to her getting her shit together..."
Some fans agreed that the show hit too close to home. "So can we all agree that #NorafromQueens is too real? Great show," wrote another.
Others agreed that it is difficult to be financially independent. "#NoraFromQueens is one of my favorite shows so far this year. The struggle to be financially independent is too real, but the cast vibes," tweeted a fan.
'Awkwafina Is Nora From Queens' airs on Wednesday as at 10.30 pm ET on Comedy Central.
