The Austin Independent School District is re-evaluating safety measures after a parent dressed as the Easter Bunny allegedly distributed Easter eggs with condoms to students on the grounds of Gullett Elementary School. Some of the eggs were packed with candy, while others contained unopened condoms, according to a letter addressed to the families of all the students. Additionally, Gullett Elementary School Principal Tammy Thompson stated in a letter to parents on Thursday that the school had no role in the incident.

“This afternoon during dismissal, a Gullett parent visited campus dressed as the Easter Bunny and handed out plastic eggs," said Thompson in the message received by Fox7 Austin. Thompson wrote, "Some of those eggs contained candy, and some students were also given unopened condoms,” he continued “Please know that this was not a planned event, nor sanctioned by the school, and we have spoken with the parent about the inappropriate nature of their activity. We value parent participation and always request that you work with campus staff to best support our students.”

Apparently, the school authorities asked the parent to leave the school grounds and stop the distribution. The unidentified parent then did leave the school grounds but continued to distribute condom-filled eggs from a public sidewalk. After the incident, the Austin Independent School District claimed it would update its "safety protocols." An AISD spokeswoman told KXAN, “We are working to review our safety protocols to ensure this does not happen again.” She added, “It was an incredibly careless and inappropriate action of a parent."

After the news broke, internet users had different reactions to the incident. Users on Twitter started to post about the hilarious and purposeful act of the parent. One parent tweeted, “A parent showed up at my kids' elementary school dressed as an Easter Bunny during pickup. He handed out eggs, mostly filled with candy. Some with unopened condoms. Not sure this is the Austin weird I signed up for.” A user wrote, “Oh wow!  Some people should not be parents or allowed near a school.” Another person said, “Definitely forgot the meaning of Easter,” while one said, “Only a psycho would do something like that. People like this need to be removed from society.”

One another person wrote, “If that was my kids school, parent dressed as Easter Bunny would have gotten their a*s kicked,” while another said, “..........................is it me, or is the, like, entire earth just super musty right now? 😐.” Another person wrote that the parent could be a woman. The user wrote, “My sister from TX just texted that there's an elementary school in Austin doing an Easter egg hunt. I guess their is a woman, in an Easter bunny costume, giving out eggs filled with candy and a condom. My sister voted for TFG and took ivermectin though.”
