At least 3 dead and multiple injured in shooting at Michigan State University
Update: Three persons are dead and five people have been transported to Sparrow Health System after a shooting at Michigan State University. “There are three confirmed fatalities. This is in addition to the five victims who have been transported to the hospital,” campus police reported on Twitter. Sparrow Health System spokesman John Foren has also confirmed that five people were transported to the hospital but conditions were not released.

EAST LANSING, MICHIGAN: An active shooting at Michigan State University has led to multiple casualties. The incident allegedly happened on Monday, February 13, 2023, at Berkey Hall at around 8.30 pm. An initial unconfirmed report claimed that at least five victims have been reported dead at the scene.
Meanwhile, there is no official statement regarding the shooting incident. When the police reached the incident spot, many casualties were reported, as per BNO. A large number of emergency services have been called to the scene. Meanwhile, police have also started a scanner to check the happenings around the East Lansing area, as per an update.

Tweeting about the shooting, journalist Brian Krassenstein said, "BREAKING: There is a possible active shooter at MSU near Berkey Hall on the East Lansing campus. Michigan State University police have asked students to “secure-in-place immediately” following shots being fired. Police are active on the scene. Will provide updates as they come."
Krassenstein added, "Multiple deaths have been reported thus far at MSU and an active shooter situation has been confirmed. Also multiple injuries. If you are at Michigan State please stay safe!" In another tweet, the journalist wrote, "According to the local NBC NEWS affiliate police responded to a male shooting people at random on campus at Michigan State University (MSU). Students report a major and expanding police presence. Further details coming."
He further claimed, "At least 5 victims have been shot at MSU. Also early reports identify the suspect as a short black male with a blue mask & handgun. Situation remains active." "Hearing reports of 7 injured thus far. The current scene at MSU as police respond to an active shooter or perhaps even shooters," Krassenstein wrote in the tweet, adding, "MSU shooter still not in custody. Police presence continues to build."
The journalist further stated, "Michigan State University police have just released a statement saying it appears that there is only one suspect at this time. There are countering reports about the gun type being used. One says a “long gun” while another indicated that the suspect was carry a hand gun."
Krassenstein further wrote, "The immense presence of first responders seen below has me hopeful that the suspect will be neutralized soon but also has me worried about the possible harm that has been done. So sad :(."
