'Artificial: Remote Intelligence' Week 5 Preview: Dante Basco joins cast as fans design his new character live
Last week's episode ended on a cliffhanger that was of special importance to those who had been a part of Week 2 of 'Artificial: Remote Intelligence'. It teased the appearance of Kira, a character who was designed wholly by the chat, live, and who has yet to be introduced on the show. For fans who missed out on that experience, however, the makers of 'Artificial' will be recreating that experience - this time, with Dante Basco.
The voice of Prince Zuko from 'Avatar: The Last Airbender,' and who in his earlier years played Lost Boys rebel Rufio on 'Hook,' Basco now joins the cast of 'Artificial' - though who his new character will be is yet to be determined. What connection does he have to the series? What role will he play? Most importantly, what is his catchphrase going to be? Nothing's been written yet and not even the creators of the show know just what's going to come out of this episode.
'Artificial: Remote Intelligence' has stated that this season will be playing out a little differently. Giving the audience more control over the story than ever, there will be two episodes of the story, then one episode of world-building and this episode will be just that. Co-creator Bernie Su will be joining Basco for a live creation of whoever Basco will end up playing on the series, a reverse from the Kira experience, whose character was created before being cast.
The official synopsis for the episode reads, "Dante Basco is the newest guest star of 'Artificial,' but who will he play? Join Dante and showrunner Bernie Su live on stream as they work with YOU, the Twitch audience, to create a character for him to play in a future episode of 'Artifical'! Who will Dante play? It's up to you!"
The story of 'Artificial: Remote Intelligence' will continue next week, as the development of Lilith (Tiffany Chu) continues and we find out just what Kira wants from Justin (Justin Lee) and more importantly, what connection she could possibly have to the project. As for when Basco will be appearing on the series, that hasn't been confirmed either, but the writers of the show are doubtless ready and waiting to begin writing his character in, just as soon as the audience decides who he'll be.
