'Arrow' Season 8 could bring back Nyssa al Ghul and the League of Assassins as it replays the show's greatest hits
The League of Assasins, or League of Shadows if you want to go by the comics, is one of DC's most prominent secret organizations and their Arrowverse version was extremely popular with the fans. Now with 'Arrow' coming to an end after its upcoming eighth season, the CW show is revisiting some of the greatest moments from its past, opening up the door for the League and their leader to return to the series.
The League was last seen in the fourth season of 'Arrow', when their newest leader Nyssa al Ghul (Katrina Law), the daughter of Ra's al Ghul (Matt Nable), decided to disband the shadowy organization. They've been mentioned a few times since and Nyssa has popped up again after the incident; but Season 8 could bring both the League and Nyssa back in full, at least for an episode.
'Arrow' Season 8's final extended trailer showed a few scenes that seemed to be set in the League's headquarters at Nanda Parbat and also featured the return of Willa Holland's Thea Queen/Speedy, the younger sister of Oliver Queen/Green Arrow (Stephen Amell). The last time we saw Thea on 'Arrow' was when she departed Star City with Nyssa and Roy Harper/Arsenal (Colton Haynes) in order to track down and destroy the League's Lazarus Pits, supernatural pools that can be used to revive the dead.
It's currently unclear how exactly the show intends to revisit the past, whether through alternate realities, flashbacks, or literal visits to the past. Whichever route the show's writers may have chosen to take, there's a very good chance we will be seeing Nyssa and the League return in some capacity, especially considering how important they have been to Oliver's journey.
'Arrow' Season 8 will premiere on The CW on October 15.
