Teenage green activist Greta Thunberg shares a camaraderie with Arnold Schwarzenegger, 56 years senior to him. The duo gave a call for action on climate change earlier and the actor even lent her his electric car to travel from the United Nations (UN) to Canada to attend a climate strike in Montreal in September.

Recently, Schwarzenegger accompanied Thunberg on a bike ride around Santa Monica and they met his daughter Christina. The former governor of California posted pictures of their meeting on his Instagram page.

He wrote: "It was fantastic to see my friend and one of my heroes @gretathunberg last week and go on a bike ride around Santa Monica together and I was so pumped to introduce her to my daughter Christina. Keep inspiring, Greta!"

Thunberg recently met Leonardo DiCaprio

At 16, Thunberg has become famous for her strong stand on the environment and in September, she made headlines for ripping into world leaders for not taking the matter seriously.

Leaders like President Donald Trump and his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin mocked her but at the same time, she found a number of prominent allies in people like Leonardo DiCaprio, also known for his environmental concern.

Thunberg had a meeting with the Oscar-winning actor over the weekend and he said the schoolgirl made him "optimistic about what the future holds".

DiCaprio even called the teenager a "leader of our time" after meeting her in Los Angeles where she spoke at a rally to put pressure on California lawmakers to make stricter environmental policies.

The meeting with Schwarzenegger soon after shows that irrespective of what political leaders think of her, Thunberg is a personality to look forward to in these times.

In May, she opened the 2019 Austrian World Summit of non-profit environmental organization R20 Regions of Climate Action that was set up by the 'Terminator' actor eight years ago.

The R20 is a coalition of governments, international organizations and private bodies that look after the execution of the green infrastructure in cities and is backed by the UN.

Schwarzenegger, whose latest movie in the 'Terminator' series was released on November 1, said he was "starstruck" when he met Thunberg in Austria in May and pledged to do whatever he could to help the sensational activist.

He offered his electric Tesla Model 3 to Thunberg, who shuns air travel for carbon emission and even sailed across the Atlantic to make it to the climate summit in the UN recently, to travel in the US and Canada to attend key protests.
