CHICAGO, ILLINOIS: 'Dark Matter', a television adaptation of Blake Crouch's 2016 novel of the same name, has been receiving mixed reviews from fans.

While some are impressed with the nail-biting thrill in the sci-fi setting, others feel that the script is too dull, unimaginative, and repetitive.

Starring Joel Edgerton, Alice Braga, and Jennifer Connelly in lead roles, 'Dark Matter' revolves around a Physics professor who is trapped in an alternate reality, left to struggle to find a way back home and stop his alternate self from harming his family.

Even since 'Dark Matter' dropped on Apple TV+, fans have been drawing comparisons with previously released sci-fi series on the same platform.

The startling similarities between 'Dark Matter' and the recently released series 'Constellation', starring Noomi Rapace, have shocked the audience.

People have assembled on Reddit and have bashed Apple TV+ for its repetitiveness in the genre and the 'bland' scripts.

After the premiere of ‘Dark Matter’, a Reddit user initiated a thread when he said, "It is the first show I’ve seen that feels like it was mainly written with ChatGPTs help. An A grade concept and cast, and a script that’s just…bland. The least possible tension in dramatic situations, implausible choices. Like watching a checklist of plot points. And a great cast trying their best to make it work."

Several other Reddit users agreed to his opinion and joined the thread. Someone wrote, "Honestly feel like most of Apple TV's shows feel AI generated with a prompt of "make a synopsis of a good show" and they just go from there. Even down to the UI of Apple TV everything just feels so boilerplate."

"Almost every apple show feels written by chatgpt," asserted another user.

Drawing comparisons with Fox television networks' sci-fi series 'Fringe', which aired from 2008 to 2013, a disappointed fan said, "It's a Fringe rip-off. I can imagine the prompt: "Hey chat, give me a tight 8 season tv show that copies Fringe's Peter character as the main protagonist, but change the names and the characters involved. Keep the same plot points and holes."

"It feels like a show in a world where there’s no such thing as entertainment that ever dealt with alternate universes. It’s so bland and a human would nowadays (jokingly perhaps) consider the option quickly. And that's what makes this feel hollow. We’ve seen it all before and so has AI, but without the human quirks behind it," said another, criticizing 'Dark Matter'.

'Dark Matter' is based on Blake Crouch's novel. Being the creator of the series, he has made attempts to be true to his book.

His novel had received mixed reviews when it was published in 2016. However, it found its fan base eventually and became a popular read among fans of science-fiction.

'Dark Matter' could be an engaging watch for those who enjoy sci-fi occasionally. However, those who are ardent followers of the genre may feel disappointed with the series' execution.
