In a shocking update, an anorexic woman, who weighs only 38lbs was told by her doctor that she would be perfect to play the role of a living corpse in a horror movie.

According to Daily Mail, Kristina Karyagina from Russia was further warned by the specialist that the only way for her to cure herself would be to learn how to laugh at herself.

The 26-year-old, who is dangerously underweight because of her refusal to eat, was informed by the medical practitioner that she could, quite possibly, die if she did not start eating again. Her doctors even asked her if she had ever considered playing the role of a 'living corpse in a horror movie' because of her skeletal features.

Karyagina reportedly stopped eating proper meals since her high school days, which has resulted in her currently having the same weight as an average four-year-old, reports the publication. However, Maria Kokhno, a reality TV star in Russia and a former anorexic, has decided to start a campaign so as to get Karyagina treatment before it is too late.

Karyagina, who is from Barnaul in south-central Russia, has spent years on a diet of small bits of apples and bananas on a regular basis. The publication reports that she is lighter than people who have died of anorexia in the past because normally anorexia can kill people who weigh around 40lbs to 56 lbs by causing serious organ damage in the body.

As per reports, Kokhno used the force of all her 520,000 Instagram fans so as to launch a campaign on Karyagina's behalf. She said, "I know what it is like when someone puts a meal in front of you and you cannot eat it. Even when you are aware that you are dying, you still cannot eat."

The reality star even asked her own former specialist Dr Yan Goland to help, who has since agreed to treat Karyagina for free. Her campaign helped her in raising 110,000 RUB for Karyagina and her mom to fly to Nizhny Novgorod in western Russia for the much-needed treatment.

It was Dr Goland who made the horror movie comment, although the exact date of the comment is still unknown. He reportedly asked his new patient, "Have you ever thought about playing a part in a horror movie? A living corpse perhaps?" According to reports, the doctor believes that the key to curing Karyagina is to get her to change her attitude towards the disorder since that would lead her straight towards a road to recovery.

During the second day of her treatment, Karyagina had her first meal where she did not eat apples or bananas, but have kasha instead. For those who aren't aware of it, kasha is a porridge made from cooked buckwheat or similar grain. Her mother said, "Several days ago I saw my daughter eating kasha and I could not believe my own eyes! Before that day, her daily diet included only a tiny piece of apple or banana, water, and juice."

In a video captured by Kokhno, she records Karyagina taking a leisurely stroll with her new friend. The TV star said, "Today, Kristina ate for the first time since last year. She now knows that anything is possible, it is very important."
