'Anne with an E' Season 3: Anne's search for her roots and Gilbert's studies may keep them occupied while others are busy finding love

While the trailer for the series promises the progress of their attraction toward each other, romance is clearly not a priority for either of them

If you are in Canada, watching the weekly episodes of 'Anne with an E' Season 3 on CBC, congratulations. For the rest of us suckers, however, the wait for Netflix to upload it to their library has been torturous. The upcoming season all the more exciting for us as the children have all grown up to become rebellious teenagers who have one thing on their mind—love.

Given the time period that the show is set in, you will see the 16-year-olds dreaming about their happily ever afters, including Anne (Amybeth McNulty) and Gilbert (Lucas Jade Zumann), whose love story fans have impatiently been waiting to see unfold.

While the trailer for the series promises the progress of their attraction toward each other, romance is not a priority for either of them, reveals actress Helen Johns, who brilliantly portrays Mrs. Eliza Barry on the show.

"All our youngsters are that bit older now, and the shift in age between seasons two and three means they are almost all more preoccupied with their love lives," Johns tells MEA WorldWide (MEAWW), adding, "As you may have seen, Gilbert is hoping to become a doctor and Anne is trying to find out more about her heritage in an effort, I think, to feel more grounded. So there is a lot going on for both of them."

Being 16 is a huge deal for these young adults who start questioning certain aspects of their upbringing, and this rings specifically true for Anne's best friend Diana (Dalila Bela), who will start challenging certain values of her strict, conservative parents. "It's safe to say that, like Anne, Diana is trying to figure out her place in the world. It's a fairly turbulent time for all of us," says Johns.

"I think that while Eliza comes across as strict, perhaps even righteous, season two allowed us to see her questioning herself a great deal. Realizing that her assumptions about what is right for her daughters may have some flaws," she said defending her character.

We are definitely looking forward to watching this evolutions when the show airs on Netflix, but until then the Canadian fans of the series can have the joy of experience adolescence vicariously through Anne and her friends. New episodes of 'Anne with an E' air on CBC every Sunday.
