Annabelle has been trending for hours with over 159,000 mentions on Twitter all because a hoax about the doll escaping from The Warren's Occult Museum, in Monroe, Connecticut, surfaced. What made it go viral further is how the trend was listed under 'Politics' on Twitter leading to users sharing hilarious memes and witty remarks about the doll making a run. From wanting takeout to Annabelle ruining 2020, there's everything.

One fan shared the screenshot of a google result for Annabelle escaping and wrote, "The real annabelle doll just escaped from the warren’s museum. That’s it, 2020 is over."

Another shared, "#Annabelle is running for President, Trump and Biden are doomed."

Another fan shared the screenshot of Trump's brother being hospitalized and wrote, "I see annabelle got to work early."

Another fan shared a reference to Cardi B's 'WAP' video featuring Meghan Thee Stallion and wrote, "Me and the homies after finding out Annabelle escaped from the Warren museum."

One fan wrote, "I’m pretty sure shane madej is the reason annabelle escaped."

While another shared, "The simpsons warned us that annabelle would run away."

There were also fans who shared that for all their bravado of sharing memes about the cursed Annabelle doll and calling it names, they are scared of being visited by the doll in the middle of the night. One of them shared, "I am laughing at all those Annabelle tweets but at the same time i am scared the she’s gonna show up at my house and bring me corona as a souvenir."

So what really started it all? There is speculation according to media reports that an interview given by 'Peaky Blinders' actor Annabelle Wallis to The Hollywood Reporter is how the hoax started. Apparently some parts of the interview, when translated for a foreign media audience, ended up becoming Annabelle escaped. Is it really just a case of lost in translation? While we cannot confirm the credibility of this speculation, here is what Wallis who also starred in the original Annabelle movie as Mia, spoke of in the interview.

She spoke about working with James Wan on their second collaboration 'Malignant' and said, "I think we have something very special. I think it’s genre-bending. I think it’s so brave. It’s so original. I just haven’t read anything like it." She added, "And James Wan, we worked together on Annabelle, so he was like, ‘I wrote this part for you, Annabelle. Let’s collaborate.’ I think I’ve found in him such a wonderful collaborator, and I know that we will continue working together for years to come. I think it’s really going to be something that audiences are pretty wowed by because it’s a real passion project for him."
