Anna Duggar's relative Rebecca, 22, dies in horrific car crash in Minnesota in latest tragedy to strike 'Counting On' family
The Duggar family has suffered yet another tragedy, with David and Priscilla Waller revealing on Monday that David's sister Rebecca Waller, 22, died in a car crash in Minnesota on Wednesday.
Priscilla is the sister of Anna, Josh Duggar's wife, People reports.
“With heavy hearts, we received a phone call today that David’s youngest sister, Rebecca went home to heaven, October 2, at around 8:30 a.m.,” David and Priscilla shared on Instagram.
“The twenty-two years of life that God gave us with her seem short, but in light of eternity all of our lives are short,” the pair continued. “The most important thing is a relationship with Jesus Christ that Rebecca evidenced by the fruit of her life. She is in heaven today, not because she was a good person, but because she trusted in the Lord Jesus Christ as her personal savior.”
According to the embattled couple, Rebecca died almost instantly during the three-car crash. “The instant her car was struck, she passed from earth to heaven and is in the presence of the Lord," they wrote.
The duo explained on their blog how Rebecca, in her short life, was “full of life, packing every minute with meaningful activity.”
“Her day typically started in the very early hours of the morning," David and Priscilla wrote alongside photos of Rebecca and their family. "It was just a few weeks ago that our little family got to tour the facility where she worked and hear her coworkers tell of her diligent work ethic, can-do attitude and yet her gentle kindness that she demonstrated towards them."
The tragedy came just a couple of months after Mary Duggar, Josh's grandmother, passed away on June 9. At the time, Washington County Coroner Roger W. Morris confirmed how the 'Counting On' family matriarch had died of an accidental drowning at age 78. “Duggar slipped and fell into the pool and drowned,” Morris told People. “Her daughter Deanna discovered her body and alerted authorities, who pronounced her dead at the scene.”
Then, in July, Joy-Anna Duggar Forsyth suffered a miscarriage. The 21-year-old TLC star revealed the news on Instagram with a solemn black and white photo of the couple resting on a hospital bed. “Today marks one week since we heard these words… ‘So this is your baby’s heart (pointing to the ultrasound screen). I don’t hear a heartbeat or see any movement,” Joy-Anna remembered.
