Spoilers for 'And Just Like That' Episode 1-  'Hello It's Me'

HBO Max just brought us the much-awaited revival of the fan-favorite series 'Sex and the City' which captivated audiences' hearts with its bold and fashionable approach that saw four boyfriends take on New York City together.

'And Just Like That' will see Sarah Jessica Parker, Cynthia Nixon, and Kristin Davis reprise their roles from the series but the awesome foursome won't be four anymore with Kim Cattrall's absence. Cattrall who played the racy, firecracker Samantha Jones refused to return for the reboot and declined the offer. This was due to a fallout between her and her co-star Sarah Jessica Parker. But fans who loved her character wondered how the show would be without her in it. Read on to know how her character's absence was explained in the first episode.

Cynthia Nixon net worth: How much did 'And Just Like That' star earn as Miranda Hobbes?

The premiere saw Carrie, Charlotte, and Miranda get together for brunch with Samantha obviously missing. When an acquaintance asks about her, in a misleading statement the ladies say that she's not with them implying she's dead but immediately clarify saying that she moved to London for work. We later see Charlotte stay back while Miranda and Carrie get a move on and take a walk outside before heading home.

Miranda brings up the missing friend and says that it kind of is like Samantha's dead as they barely talk about her. Carrie tells her that although she told Samantha that it did not make sense to keep her on as a publisher, it resulted in Samantha firing her as a friend. She further emphasizes that she thought she was more than an ATM machine to her and made many efforts to call and text but Samantha never responded with Miranda saying the same. Miranda blames it on her pride being hurt and her being embarrassed as Carrie sadly says she thought they would remain friends forever.

This is how the revival chose to explain Samatha's absence in an attempt to quickly shut down the question that everyone had as to how they'd justify her disappearance. Looks like 'And Just Like That' viewers have an answer and can move on and accept that Samantha will no longer be seen on the show.

The two episodes of 'And Just Like That' are available to stream on HBO Max with more to follow weekly.
