Spoilers for 'And Just Like That' Episode 5 - 'Tragically Hip'

'And Just Like That' has not been short of drama since the day it premiered and looks like the show won't stop drawing eyeballs to events both on and off the screen. From Chris Noth's Big being killed off to Noth being embroiled in a sexual assault case, to the 'Sex and the City' reboot being panned for being 'too woke,' the headlines have just been writing themselves.

The forward-thinking aspect of the revival has meant keeping abreast of all the conversations around diversity and representation in media. Therefore, we have additions to the cast like Che Diaz (Sara Ramirez), a non-binary standup comic who is also Carrie Bradshaw's (Sarah Jessica Parker) boss and works with her on a podcast. We previously saw Miranda Hobbes (Cynthia Nixon) get friendly with her at a party, smoking weed and drinking with her. This had many viewers already anticipating a potential new relationship in Miranda's life and the newest episode definitely confirmed it.

'And Just Like That' Episode 2 Takeaway: Girls set high standards for strong friendship

The fifth episode saw Carrie have hip surgery and her friends were taking care of her at her house. Carrie also delivers a very funny podcast while high on painkillers which Che loves because it is so successful. She is so happy that she decides to drop by Carrie's house to gift her a bottle of tequila but she's asleep when Che arrives. But serendipitously, Miranda is there and awake on Carrie duty and she lets Che in. When Che tells her she was coming to take shots with Carrie, Miranda (who may have an alcohol issue) suggests that she do shots with her instead. What follows next is a saucy, steamy romp in the kitchen.

The two, clearly drunk, engage in some banter with Che smoking a joint before she has to leave. When Miranda refuses her offer, Che recalls that she seemed to enjoy it at the party. Miranda says that if Che wasn't in a hurry, she'd ask her to shotgun her again — something Che gladly agrees to do. As the duo giggle and get closer, Che shotguns her but then kisses her neck. When Miranda indicates that she likes it and that she'd like to continue, the two get it on in the kitchen which wakes up Carrie, who gets up to see why Miranda is moaning so loudly.

The end result is that Carrie is witness to Miranda cheating on her husband as she gives in to her attraction to Che. Before Che leaves she asks Miranda to DM her if she wants to chill again and we see Miranda exhilarated and breathless. When Carrie confronts her about what just happened, Miranda breaks down and admits that she's unhappy and feels trapped in her marriage that she hates. She also acknowledges her drinking issue. She says she'll stop but she doesn't want to stop after her kitchen escapade because she never felt like that before. And just like that, we have a new fling complicating matters and now that Miranda has got a taste, it's only time before she takes Che up on her offer for a no-strings extramarital affair.
