'Thor: Love and Thunder': Release date, cast, plot, and everything you need to about Marvel's movie with the first female Thor
Last we saw, Chris Hemsworth's Thor, the God of Thunder was all ready for new adventures with the Guardians of the Galaxy, after the epic battle with Thanos (Josh Brolin) in 'Avengers: Endgame'. Soon after the Infinity Saga concluded, news came about that Taika Waititi, the director of 'Thor: Ragnarok' was returning to helm the fourth Thor installment.
The Marvel Studios panel set the San Diego Comic-Con 2019 alight with a slew of movie announcements and Thor 4 was one of them. The movie is officially titled, 'Thor: Love and Thunder' and will be borrowing from Jason Aaron's 'The Mighty Thor'.
In news that would please Thor fans, the movie will feature Jane Foster (Natalie Portman) as Thor, while Tessa Thompson, who essayed the role of Valkyrie, goes back to being the last remaining Valkyrie again.
Here's what we know about 'Thor: Love and Thunder' so far.
Release date:
'Thor: Love and Thunder' is slated for a November 5, 2021 release.
Plot:
As expected, the plot remains a close-guarded secret. All we know right now that Natalie Portman will wield Mjölnir. If we were to look at comics, 'The Mighty Thor' sees Odinson losing his abilities after the events of "Original Sin."
"Original Sin" features Nick Fury and the Avengers investigating the murder of Uatu the Watcher, only to suffer trauma from what they see in his eyes. From Odin's point of view, the story is about Angela, a superhero, who is revealed to be his daughter. She is killed as an infant during Asgard's war with the Angels of the Tenth Realm, a crime that resulted in Odin severing the tenth realm from the other nine.
Post the events of "Original Sin", Jane Foster picks up Thor's hammer and takes the mantle of the Mighty Thor. One of the subplots is that the character was suffering from cancer at that point and the use of Mjölnir, only made it worse for her. Given how 'Avengers: Endgame' ended, we don't know for sure if 'Love and Thunder' will use that story arc.

At this stage, we know that three characters are set to reprise their roles in the fourth installment.
Chris Hemsworth as Thor
The God of Thunder is currently traveling with the Guardians of the Galaxy and hopefully, we see him as the super-jacked golden-haired god, and not as the pot-bellied superhero.
Natalie Portman as Dr. Jane Foster
Portman was last seen in 'Endgame' when Rocket Raccoon (Bradley Cooper) and Thor travel to Asgard in 2013, extracting the Reality Stone from Jane Foster.
Tessa Thompson as Valkyrie
The fighter was appointed by Thor as the new ruler of New Asgard.

News:
Talking about the movie during the SDCC's Marvel Studios panel, Waititi said: "That storyline is incredible is full emotion, love, and thunder and introduces for the first time female Thor." He also, later on, spoke to EW at Disney's D23 Expo to clarify a major detail about the film, saying Chris Hemsworth's character of Thor Odinson wouldn't lose his status, but Portman's Jane Foster will instead join him as the second Thor."[She's] a Thor. There's still the other Thor, the original Thor [played by Hemsworth]," Waititi said before adding, "She's not called Female Thor. In the comics, she's called the Mighty Thor. It comes from that comic run. I couldn't be more happy and excited."
According to THR, Waititi's return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe(MCU) also means that he's no longer working on 'Akira', Warner Bros.' big-screen adaptation of the classic manga. The film was previously set for a 2021 release date.
