'You'll never walk alone': Liverpool team and fans pay tribute to murdered 9-year-old Olivia Pratt-Korbel

LIVERPOOL, ENGLAND: On Monday, August 22, nine-year-old Olivia Pratt-Korbel was shot dead in Liverpool by a masked hitman. A man was arrested on suspicion of two counts of attempted murder on Saturday, August 27. In memory of the child, thousands of Liverpool football fans paid tribute to her during a match with Bournemouth.

Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson wore a t-shirt adorned with the words 'RIP Olivia YNWA'. At the end of the game, the captain removed his jersey, in an emotional moment.

Supporters also applauded during the ninth minute of the match in memory of Pratt-Korbel. Fans sang their iconic anthem, 'You'll Never Walk Alone'. The team claimed their biggest ever Premier League win with a 9-0 match. Later, the police reissued their appeal for information about the murder and the two men arrested on suspicion of murder. However, both of them have been granted bail. A 36-year-old man, from Huyton, was recalled to prison for breaching his license. The Huyton man and another 33-year-old man from Dovecot, were arrested on suspicion of murder and two counts of attempted murder.

According to Daily Mail, a statement released by the nine-year-old's family read, "If anyone knows anything, now is the time to speak up. It is not about being a 'snitch' or a 'grass' it is about finding out who took our baby away from us. PLEASE DO THE RIGHT THING." Further, the family said she was a "unique, chatty, nosey girl' who 'loved life and all it had to offer." The Merseyside Police also tweeted, "Five days ago, 9-yr-old Olivia Pratt-Korbel was shot dead at her home in Kingsheath Ave #Liverpool We've arrested two people but our work is far from done. We still need information. We still need names. To stop gun crime we need you. Silence is not an option. Please RT #Olivia" 



 

In a similar incident, Sam Rimmer, a 22-year-old, was shot dead in Dingle, Liverpool. Three men have been arrested and were released on bail. Police tweeted, "Elven days ago, 22-year-old Sam Rimmer was shot dead in Lavrock Bank, Dingle, #Liverpool We've arrested four people but our work is far from done. We still need information. We still need names. To stop gun crime we need you. Silence is not an option. Please share #Sam" 



 

Council worker Ashley Dale was shot dead by a gunman in the back garden of her home. The police stated it as a case of 'mistaken identity.' A tweet from the police read, "Seven days ago, 28-year-old Ashley Dale was shot dead at her home in Leinster Rd #Liverpool We've arrested two people but our work is far from done. We still need information. We still need names. To stop gun crime we need you. Silence is not an option. Please share #Ashley"
