'AGT' Season 17: Fans laud Jannick Holste for his showmanship and 'magical' performance
Simon Cowell calling Jannick Holste's performance 'fantastically good and fantastically bad at the same time'
Jannick Holste performs the most unexpected dancing routine on 'America's Got Talent' Season 17. This dancer/magician was seen in the show's latest episode that aired this Tuesday, and fans, including the 'AGT' judges, adore him.
Jannick Holste arrived for his 'America's Got Talent' audition in style. The 19-year-old German native approached the stage with vigor, wearing a gleaming rhinestone blazer. Jannick was most thrilled to see Heidi Klum, of all the judges. This dancing teacher expresses his desire to win the competition so that he may tour the world with Heidi.
Interestingly, Jannick did not inform the judges that his act would incorporate magic, so when the show began, the judges — Simon, Heidi, Sofia, and Howie — all looked astonished when Jannick began setting up items that are obviously used in magic performances. It was evident from the start of his performance that he was going to put a new spin on dancing. Jannick's audition was the perfect combination of dancing and magic. Jannick begins to bust some moves, but magic quickly enters the fray as he employs illusion techniques to appear backup dances apparently out of thin air. The dancer used basic magic tricks to appear several backdrop dancers from thin air. Many admirers have commented on how refreshing it is to see such a simple sort of magic/illusionism utilized in such a pleasant way. Heidi's song "Chai Tea with Heidi" played in the background of Jannick's performance. When the judges provided their feedback, Howie stated that Jannick's group was a complete surprise. The dance/magic combination was unique. Jannick receives a standing ovation from the audience at the conclusion of his performance. Although the other judges praised Jannick's audition, Simon Cowell lambasted Heidi's vocals, calling the performance “fantastically good and fantastically bad at the same time.”
Simon concluded his notes by stating that the performance was excellent. Jannick received four yeses from the judges. When Simon said "yes," Jannick and his dancers were completely taken aback. On 'America's Got Talent,' Jannick and his dancers will go to the next round. This isn't the first time magic has been combined with another skill in season 17 of 'AGT.' Mervant Vera combined magic and rap music in episode one earlier in the season. Fans already adore Jannick, as they do Mervant. It's incredibly fascinating to watch not one, but two different takes on conventional magic acts.
Not only the judges, but the former 'America’s Got Talent' Season 6 winner, Landau Eugene Murphy found Jannick's performance to be noteworthy. During the live broadcast of the auidition, they tweeted: "@AGT @SimonCowell @howiemandel @terrycrews @heidiklum @SofiaVergara [email protected]_magic....dance and magic!!!!!....It works, well done...Very Exciting!!!!!".
Pop culture reactor, Philip Louie also took the opportunity to praise Jannic's performance on Twitter by lauding his stage presence: "@AGT jannick has stage presence in this dance-magic hybrid performance! #AGT".
Some fans also compliment Jannic for his showmanship as they wrote: "Jannick's showmanship and magic are making me smile! Love these types of acts! #AGT".

Another fan describes Jannick's performance as "magical," their tweet read: "It’s a magical dance by Jannick. #AGT".
While some fans also had differing opinions of the act as they don't seem to enjoy the blend of dance and magic in this particular performance. Describing where the performance lacked, a viewer wrote: "Combining dance & magic takes a little creativity & effort. Not the best act I have ever seen, but one of the 1st times I have seen them officially put together. There’s some potential there, but it will/would require some retooling. #[email protected] @AGTAuditions."

Not only Jannick but there was criticism for Heidi's song as well, as one Twitter user wrote: "Boo. Boring magic. Boring dancing. And Heidi’s new song? Ear broccoli. Next. #AGT."

The magic and dance act was good but had a very Knott's Berry Farm/Darien Lake Variety Show vibe to it #AGT— Drew (@JustRollinOn86) June 22, 2022
