'American Song Contest': Minnesota's Yam Haus called AWFUL, fans say 'they're not going far'
NBC's 'American Song Contest' opened to quite the fanfare on Monday, March 21, night as musicians across the state locked in for a contest against each other with Snoop Dogg and Kelly Clarkson hosting the intense competition. First up was the Yam Haus from Minnesota performing 'Ready to Go'. The American pop band was formed by Lars Pruitt, Seth Blum, Jake Fellow, and Zach Beinlich. They have played alongside Adam Lambert, Tori Kelly, Kacey Musgraves, American Authors, and Blue October.
Yam Haus opened to mixed responses as one segment liked the music, but some felt it was quite flat. "Yam Haus was AIGHT!!! I'll give em 5 out of 10. #AmericanSongContest," one of the fans wrote. This fan wasn't pulling any punches: "Minnesota’s Yam Haus sounds like getting your period for the first time and using toilet paper instead of a pad/tampon because you’re too embarrassed to hit up the nurse cause you bled on your jeans already. #AmericanSongContest." This was seconded by another who said, "Can't say I'm a fan of yam haus #AmericanSongContest."

"I’m breaking my self-imposed exile for #AmericanSongContest . MN has YAM Haus and their single “Ready to Go” should have been jingle for pop. The intro package was also waaaayyy too long," one of the tweets read. "@yamhaus OMG that was AWFUL. I hope this show gets better. #AmericanSongContest," one of the comments read. "1. Minnesota - Yam Haus: “Ready to Go” Honestly was a lot better than I expected after hearing the snippet. It was a good opening for the show, but I’m not sure if it will qualify past this round. #AmericanSongContest," a fan remarked.
"Not feeling the song but like the group. Does Yam Haus have any other song cause this song ain't gonna cut it #AmericanSongContest," a comment said. "I'll bet 1 yr salary to charity that @yamhaus on #AmericanSongContest @nbc does NOT go far," another fan wrote. "Minnesota’s Yam Haus definitely feel fresh and qualitative, and so it does its staging. But it still lacks something. Call it a banging melody, call it the X Factor. Still, it has some chances to go through #AmericanSongContest," one of the fans opined.
