'American Idol’: Jay wins last platinum ticket, fans say ‘right person for first time’
The auditions for the ‘American Idol’ season 20 wrapped up on Monday, March 21 and the fans finally got to see the third and the last winner of the newly-introduced platinum ticket. Jay Copeland- a singer from Maryland bagged the coveted platinum ticket that will allow him to skip the first round of Hollywood week. Singing his rendition of Stevie Wonder’s iconic hit ‘Sign, Sealed, Delivered’, the skilled crooner absolutely mesmerized the judges namely Katy Perry, Luke Bryan, and Lionel Richie.
The trio got floored by Jay’s performance the minute he started performing. Katy, who got stunned by his skills, claimed that they needed him more than he needed the show. The pop princess dubbed Jay as the perfect candidate while also labeling him as a superstar. An equally mesmerized Lionel said Jay was a true gift and that his talent was off the chain. Luke too looked intrigued with Jay’s skills and added that they had been waiting for a kid like him. Luke concluded that Jay was someone who could electrify the crowd with ease. The trio then handed him the last platinum ticket of the season. HunterGirl and Kenedi Anderson are the other two winners of the platinum ticket.

A lot of elated fans of ‘American Idol’ flocked to Twitter to congratulate Jay on the big win. “That's raw talent right there. So glad that Jay got a Platinum Ticket. Cancel the rest of the season, we're done here.” One dubbed Jay as the “Top 10 material!” While, one concluded, “Okay he was pretty good, probably the best this season.”
