Who is Kaya Stewart?
Kaya is an English-American vocalist and lyricist who was born on February 28, 2000. She is the daughter of guitarist Dave Stewart and Dutch photojournalist Anoushka Fisz. Kaya released a single titled, 'In Love with a Boy' in 2015. The singer was born in London but grew up in Los Angeles with her half-brothers, Sam and Django. She also has a sister, Indya. Kaya grew up in a musical household and continually performed for her family and friends. She has stated that her father's acquaintance, Annie Lennox, inspires her immensely and was trained by her as well.
Her first single, 'In Love with a Boy', was released in collaboration with Warner Bros Records on July 10, 2015. After its launch, the single established a milestone by being added to 85 pop stations, the most ever for a new artist. Further, 'Kaya Stewart', her debut record, was released in August 2016.
Kaya ended 2020 with an all-star EP release titled, 'Miss Kaya'. To make this album, she collaborated with Producer Jamie Lidell in Nashville, Tennessee. Whilst, her standout track has to be 'California', with its emotive vocal delivery paired and mixed with punchy poppy synthesizers and an unrivaled peppy instrumental. Her another successful work is her single, 'I Hate Falling In Love', which gives fans a sample of her angry yet introspective nature as a creative artist.
Kaya released 'If Things Go South', her second full-length album, via Bay Street Records last year. Moreover, her self-actualization as an artist is documented in this 10-song record, along with the aches of growing up with uncertainty, heartbreaks, and distorted mental health. She uncorked her own hypnotic and hard-hitting sound, influenced by Alanis Morissette and Debbie Harry, with total artistic freedom and independence and released 'Honey'.
“‘Honey’ unleashes desires, vulnerabilities…and the palpable realities of finding yourself while with another," according to Tina Benitez-Eves of American Songwriter. Kaitlyn McNab of Teen Vogue called it the "in-your-face 'Honey,'" adding that "the thumping anthem should be done justice by being blasted at full volume — that way, you're able to simultaneously headbang and take in all of Kaya's full-bodied vocals."
Kaya, 23, came in full shape with a scorching trademark style after starting her career in 2015 with a series of Warner Bros Records' albums. Her strong, distinct vocals use a pop-punk attitude, personal Americana-tinged narrative, and infectious danceable rhythms to bind the record together. Kaya is at her most genuine and expressive in 'If Things Go South', which is co-written and co-produced with her father, Dave. During the worldwide pandemic, she was identified with obsessive-compulsive disorder, which prompted her to write the compilation of songs that comprise 'If Things Go South'.
Kaya has had a life full of musical experience dating back to her birth in London and upbringing in Los Angeles. She began writing tunes at the age of six and left her mark on the Los Angeles live music scene in her early teens. Kaya made history by becoming the youngest female performer to appear on the infamous Warped Tour. Kaya is reinventing the music genre on a daily basis, which is becoming increasingly remarkable as a result of the fantastic atmosphere in which artists are attempting to flourish. Kaya understands that her composing and entertaining abilities will set her apart and enable her audacious and irrefutable vision to come true.

Kaya Stewart on 'American Idol' Season 21
Alex Hobbs and Ciatu Kromah from 'American Idol' turned up the fire on Kaya's 'In Love With A Boy'. Alex and Ciatu covered Kaya's 2015 Top 40 hit with a soulful and seductive version that gives the song a grittier, more melodic feel. The enticing video depicts the vocalists as two youthful singles separated by an apartment building's common wall. The recording and video, created by the top new media and artist development firm, StarMaker, as part of its Collab Lab series, feature the two upcoming singers singing the song as a duo from their respective perspectives.
Now, Kaya is going to appear on the stage of 'American Idol' alongside her father, Dave, who will add stars to her performance with his guitar playing skills. However, besides the official photos from her auditions being released by the network, no other information is made available.
