The closely followed legal battle between Johnny Depp and Amber Heard had the world's eyes on it through its six-week-long run. The verdict, announced on June 1, ruled in favor of the 58-year-old actor after the jury found the 36-year-old actress' op-ed statements to be defamatory.

Netizens spotted that Heard wore the same little black dress to the courtroom on verdict day that she wore to file a restraining order against Depp and at the 2020 UK court trial. On March 29, 2021, Heard posted images of herself from those days on Instagram with the caption, "One dress, four years apart. Sometimes it's important to wear the same thing twice."

JOHNNY DEPP WINS! Jury delivers actor a staggering $15 million victory, but Heard gets $2 million

One user tweeted, "Amber Heard is wearing that black dress she wore to the court to get her TRO and on the final day of the UK trial. I think she actually thinks she might win this. Delusional maybe?" Another noted, "LOVE that Amber Heard wore the same black dress that she wore for the restraining order, the UK trial, and now the US won where she lost big time. I'm sure she was trying for some sort of 'poetic justice' moment summed up by a dress. But she lost & that was a total flop haha."

A third said, "Wait, did Amber really wear the same black dress again? She really is playing mind games." A fourth wrote, "#AmberHeard is so predictable that people predicted she would show up in the black dress and they were right along with her sister dressing in all black sweatshirt?? 10 mins until #JusticeForJohhnyDepp and #AmberTurd is already working on her sad face BUT will there be Tears?"

While one user joked, "Amber Heard was ready to walk out with the black dress [laughing face emoji] and act like a victim again. Instead she only acknowledged two of her attorneys team members and rushed out of there. #JohnnyDeppVsAmberHeard not today today is Johnnys Day!!!!" another commented, "Amber Heard wearing the same Black dress. The day you ruined his life, the day you agreed to lie in the court of law, the day you lost but Same dress wont fetch same results."

A third added, "Can someone tell #AmberHeard to stop comparing the UK trial to this trial. She did not win in the UK, it was between #JohnnyDepp vs Sun. Funny she's taking the win and wearing the same black dress to send a message." A fourth said, "#amberheard is just pissed she didn't deliver a winning press interview. Her lucky black dress run out of luck.. maybe because of the mountain of lies."

A fifth made a sarcastic comment, "Sometimes it's important to wear the same dress three times. The day you ruined his life, the day you agreed to lie in the court of law, the day you lost." A sixth wrote, "Not @realamberheard trying to do something by wearing the same ugly funeral dress? Ma'am, just burn it." A seventh said, "This manipulative show pony planned to use the verdict as a PR stunt when she put on her 'amish-dress' for the 3 time All the PR in the world can't fix her reputation now. We've all heard the audiotapes, they show the real Amber Heard."

The jury awarded Depp with $10 million in compensatory damages and $5 million in punitive damages, while Heard was awarded $2 million in compensatory damages and no punitive damages.

Depp had sued Heard for $50 million after she wrote a 2018 op-ed for The Washington Post in which she claimed to be a victim of domestic violence. Heard then countersued Depp for $100 million in relation to the three statements made by Depp's attorney Adam Waldman. The jury found the third statement by Waldman to be defamatory, which is why Heard received $2 million as compensatory damages despite losing the trial.
