AMAs 2020: The Weeknd's 'Heartless' wins Best Soul/R&B song award, angry Chris Brown fans call show 'rigged'
The 48th American Music Awards is airing live from the Los Angeles Microsoft Theater on Sunday, November 22, on ABC from 8 pm ET. The ceremony witnessed The Weeknd winning the award for the Favorite Album – Soul/R&B for his album 'After Hours'. And soon the talented artist bagged another award for the Favorite Song – Soul/R&B for his song, 'Heartless'. Other nominations for the categories were Chris Brown ft. Drake, 'No Guidance' and Summer Walker's 'Playing Games'.
'Heartless' is a song from The Weeknd's award-winning album, 'After Hours'. The song was released last year on November 27. The song is co-written by the singer along with producers Metro Boomin, Illangelo, and Dre Moon. The song entered number one in its second week on the US Billboard Hot 100, on December 14, 2019, becoming the Weeknd's fourth US number-one single. Along with the original music, a Vapor Wave remix of the song featuring American rapper Lil Uzi Vert was also released alongside the deluxe edition of its parent album on March 23, 2020.
Sticking to the Covid-19 social distancing guidelines, all artists such as Billie Eilish, Shawn Mendes, Justin Bieber, Katy Perry, Jennifer Lopez, Maluma, The Weeknd, Kenny G, Dua Lipa, Dan + Shay, Megan Thee Stallion, Bad Bunny, Jhay Cortez, Lil Baby, BTS and many more performed at the award ceremony.
As soon as the news of The Weeknd's victory made its way to social media, people started talking about it.
