AMAs 2020: Lewis Capaldi's ‘Before You Go’ rendition wins over fans, Internet calls him 'America's sweetheart'

One of the artists who headlined the 2020 American Music Awards with his praise-worthy performance was Lewis Capaldi with his rendition of 'Before You Go'. Fans rushed to social media to thank the artist for his amazing performance. Many users called the Scottish musician 'America's Sweetheart' following his rather emotional performance. 

Despite the pandemic-induced restrictions, there was no dearth of entertainment on the stage. Adhering to Covid-19 protocols, several top artists put up an amazing show. Among the performers on November 22 night were Bad Bunny and Jhay Cortex, Billie Eilish, BTS, Dan + Shay, Dua Lipa, Katy Perry, Darius Rucker and more. One of the highlights included a collaborative performance by Benny Blanco, Justin Bieber and Shawn Mendes for their respective hits 'Holy', 'Lonely', 'Monster' and 'Wonder'. 

Praising Capaldi, one fan tweeted, "America's Sweetheart right here. You're looking mighty, mighty fine Mr. Capaldi. @LewisCapaldi" while anther added, "Is he really america's sweetheart or am i missing something"



 



 

Meanwhile, the rest simply thanked him for making AMAs 2020 more special with his spectacular performance. One excited fan shared, "lewis capaldi's amas performance was art thank you and goodnight". Adding to that another tweeted, "@LewisCapaldi is definitely going to be the best performance of the #AMAs #AMAs2020 no doubt...he's ACTUALLY singing & not using a playback which seems like the norm for everyone else." One wrote, "I swear that it does not give me my heart to express my love that I have you, you are a huge artist and you deserve that many more people know you, sing to me all your life, your voice is a mime to the soul @LewisCapaldi" One said, "All you need is a mic and a piano. His 2020 single became the second UK singles chart-topper in January. And his 2019 single 'Someone You Loved' topped the same chart for seven weeks and remained on the top of the US Billboard Hot 100. The song was also nominated at the 62nd Annual Grammy Awards for the Song of the Year. It won the Brit Award for the Song of the Year ad well. 'Someone You Loved' became the longest-running top 10 UK single of all time by a British artist.

He released his debut album 'Divinely Uninspired to a Hellish Extent' in May 2019 and the track from his performance tonight 'Before You Go' is from its extended edition.
