Alyssa Milano joins Trump critics to wish him well, Piers Morgan slams all who are celebrating: 'You're no better'
President Donald Trump received well-wishes from some of his fiercest critics after he announced this morning that he and First Lady Melania Trump had tested positive for Covid-19. Some of Trump's most vocal detractors put differences aside to offer their thoughts and prayers that the president and first lady make a "speedy and complete recovery," Fox News reported.
Trump's 2020 Democratic challenger Joe Biden said he and wife Jill would "pray for the health and safety" of the president and his family. “God bless the president and the first lady,” MSNBC host Rachel Maddow tweeted. “If you pray, please pray for their speedy and complete recovery — and for everyone infected, everywhere. This virus is horrific and merciless — no one would wish its wrath on anyone."
Jill and I send our thoughts to President Trump and First Lady Melania Trump for a swift recovery. We will continue to pray for the health and safety of the president and his family.

This virus is horrific and merciless — no one would wish its wrath on anyone.
We must get its spread under control. Enough.
#MeToo firebrand Alyssa Milano, who has consistently criticized the president on several issues — most notably his nomination of Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court — said she “wouldn’t wish this virus on my worst enemy.” “As someone who has had #COVID19 and still suffers from post-covid syndrome, I can honestly say with all that I am that I wouldn’t wish this virus on my worst enemy,” Milano tweeted shortly after the news broke.

Meanwhile, Civil Rights leader Rev Jesse Jackson also offered his prayers to Trump and his wife, insisting that people must put aside their political differences and pray for the millions afflicted by the deadly contagion. “We sincerely pray the President & the First Lady do not have the worst of this disease,” Jackson tweeted. “We must all pray for the full recovery of the President& his wife. For whatever religious or political persuasion you may be, we must all pray as millions of people are affected by this disease.”

'Good Morning Britain' host Piers Morgan, who recently tore into Trump’s handling of the pandemic in an op-ed for the Daily Mail, also empathized with him. In fact, Morgan went a step further and described people on social media celebrating the news of Trump's diagnosis as “no better than the man they loathe.” “Interesting to see those who’ve spent the last few years screaming that Trump’s an uncaring, heartless empathy-devoid b*stard now spewing their gleeful joy that he & his wife have a deadly virus,” Morgan said on Twitter. “They’re no better than the man they loathe.”

Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer, who was heavily criticized by her Republican constituents for trying to enforce mask mandates in her state, said in a statement that she was "wishing the president and first lady a speedy recovery." "Covid-19 is the most dangerous public health crisis America has faced in 100 years. It is still present in our communities. It is still spreading. And people are still dying from it every single day," Whitmer added. "This virus doesn't care if you're rich or poor, a Republican or a Democrat, young or old. No one is immune. Not even the president." Nonetheless, Whitmer warned the public that Trump's positive Covid-19 test is a "wakeup call" to wear a mask and practice social distancing in order to prevent the spread of the virus.
My sincere hope is that today's news will serve as a wakeup call to every single American. Right now all 50 states and the federal government have some kind of declared state of emergency. We are all in this together. Let's mask up and get through this together, as one nation.

Meanwhile, Democratic Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms also tweeted her well wishes to the president. "Our thoughts and prayers are with the First Family, and all suffering from the Coronavirus. A Covid-19 diagnosis is unsettling, and even more so when a loved one also tests positive," she wrote. "Derek and I wish the First Family a speedy recovery."
