Alyn Breed: Providence College basketball player suspended after being charged for pulling gun on GF
PROVIDENCE, RHODE ISLAND: Providence Friars' guard, Alyn Breed, was placed on indefinite suspension by Providence College after his arrest on Saturday, April 1. The guard was charged with several offenses in relation to a domestic violence incident that happened off-campus.
Police in Providence, Rhode Island have accused 22-year-old Breed of "numerous firearm offenses," as well as breaking and entering a home, robbery, damage, and taking someone else's car without their consent, according to Providence Journal. In addition to the aforementioned accusations, Breed is also charged with brandishing a gun at his girlfriend, according to local network WPRI-TV. The 6-foot-3 junior is no longer featured on the Friars' official roster after earning 4.8 points and 2.4 rebounds this season.

'Breed is suspended from the men's basketball team'
The school released a statement saying, "Alyn Breed was charged with several crimes for actions that occurred off campus on Saturday, April 1. As a result of these charges, athletic director Steve Napolillo and head coach Kim English have determined that Breed is suspended from the men's basketball team."
The statement continued, "[He] will not be allowed to participate in any other athletic department-related activities. [Providence] will follow its student-conduct disciplinary process regarding this matter. At this time, there will not be any further comment."

Who is Alyn Breed?
Breed, a native of Powder Springs, Georgia, played in 32 games for the Friars last season and was anticipated to contribute to the team in 2023–24, but his collegiate future is now in doubt. He has played for Providence in 88 games altogether since the start of the 2020–21 season, starting 30 of them, according to Sports Illustrated.
