All sightings of escaped murderer Danelo Cavalcante who was on the run for 13 days
Danelo Cavalcante was caught after nearly a fortnight of evading capture
Escaped murderer Danelo Cavalcante, 34, was arrested on Wednesday, September 13, after authorities tracked him down using thermal heat technology from an aircraft. This was after nearly a fortnight of evading capture. The convict had broken out of the Chester County prison by crab-walking its walls, on August 31. He had been sentenced to life for killing his ex-girlfriend for fear that she would expose his earlier murder. In the lead-up to his arrest, there had been multiple sightings of the fugitive. Here’s a timeline of the two-week pursuit to capture Danelo.
Sighting near the prison on September 2
The first sighting of Danelo after the prison break was recorded around 12:30 am, at a distance of roughly 1.5 miles from the prison, and it was captured by a residential surveillance camera. Additionally, a state trooper documented an encounter with him in that area.
Sighting at Botanical Gardens on September 4
In the evening, surveillance cameras at Longwood Gardens, a botanical garden located close to Chester County Prison, recorded Danelo's presence, making it a significant area of interest in the search operation. While at Longwood Gardens, he obtained several items, which included a backpack, a duffle sling bag, and a hooded sweatshirt.
Spotted on doorbell cam on September 9
The pursuit of Danelo took an unforeseen twist when he successfully evaded the search perimeter and absconded with a van. On the evening of September 9th, Danelo appeared at the residence of an acquaintance, clean-shaven, dressed in a green hooded sweatshirt, a black baseball cap, green prison pants, and white shoes. Using the doorbell camera, he sought a meeting, but the resident was not present at the time. Instead, a female who was in the house eventually informed law enforcement about the sighting.
Danelo Cavalcante captured on September 13
The cops apprehended Danelo using thermal heat technology from an aircraft before a US Border Patrol tactical unit dog ultimately pinned him down. The murderer who was being tracked down by 500 law enforcement officers was captured by a SWAT search team around 8 am on Wednesday, September 13. Following his capture, Danelo was taken to the Avondale police station, with plans for his subsequent transfer to a state prison.
