The CW show 'All American' revolves around Spencer James (Daniel Ezra) and his family but it tackles series issues like racism and mental illness throughout the second season.

Showing a slice of reality, Episode 9 'One of Them Nights' addresses how racism is a part of the community. It all begins when they go to an ice cream shop and the Froyo woman asks them to leave after a tiny spat.

With the cops siding the white supremacy, there is little that can be done to eradicate it. The main question that the plot twist poses is: Why would a person move into a black neighborhood if they didn't want to serve the people in the community in the first place?

Just as series hit Netflix on March 17, fans have been going crazy on social media. Talking about the same, one fan wrote, "I just hate shows where the disadvantaged black youth is supposed to suck up racism for his big shot at sports. #allamerican," and another said, "Stop all the Racism and Racial Profiling! It’s 2020 People! Everybody deserves to feel free in their own skin! I don’t care what anyone says, there is bad and good in EVERY race!! I’m Native American and I’ve experienced this. We all bleed red! #AllAmerican."

Praising the show, one fan posted, "#AllAmerican is a great example of exploring the life of a black character. Yes, they experience racism but the story is primarily about their wins, losses and loves," and another viewer said the story opened her eyes: "Honestly, #AllAmerican has genuinely woken me up to how CONSTANT & PERSISTENT racism in our country still is. I knew it was there, but now I recognize how it is ALWAYS there—everywhere— in a way I, as a white woman, never recognized. I thought I knew my privilege. I didn’t."

Several fans were impressed with the showrunners' way of piecing everything together. "I'm also so impressed with how they handled gentrification, racism in healthcare, and Layla's depression. You rarely get to see black women and teenagers awarded the capacity to be sad, to struggle, to be mentally ill like Layla has. It's so important. #AllAmerican," one posted and another said, "Really incredible writing on the latest episode of #AllAmerican by @AllAmericanRoom. From racial bias in the medical field, to the emotional weariness caused by racism, to overarching themes of family and triumph. Really enjoy this show.

If you haven't got a chance to watch this show yet, tune into Netflix and binge-watch both the seasons.
