'All American' Season 2 pays tribute to rapper Nipsey Hussle and Nicole Lynn, 1st Black female sports agent for top 5 NFL Draft pick

Nicole Lynn was excited and she tweeted it out, "this is crazy." Followers and well-wishers bombarded her with congratulatory tweets.
UPDATED OCT 9, 2019

The second season of 'All American' premiered on The CW with an emotionally charged pilot titled 'Hussle & Motivate.' Not only did the episode address the complex equation of Spencer James (Daniel Ezra) with the Baker family in Beverly Hills and his real family in Crenshaw, it also featured a tribute to American rapper Nipsey Hussle. But, that's not all.

The episode also made a reference to Nicole Lynn, the first Black woman to represent a potential top-five NFL Draft pick! Lynn couldn't be more excited. "Guys!!!!! This is CRAZY!! They just referenced me on the show #AllAmerican !!! “Another Nicole Lynn in the making.” I had no idea!!" she tweeted out to her fans.

In the episode, a recent Beverly grad Rochelle Moseley (Kayla Smith) comes into the picture and breaks the news of a high-profile internship to Layla (Greta Onieogou) and Spencer. That's when Layla congratulates her and calls her "another Nicole Lynn in the making!" Apparently, Moseley has a really important father, who is one of the football team’s most influential boosters — and she really wants Spencer to meet her dad. She invites him for dinner to establish a solid relationship between the two.

No sooner did Nicole Lynn post the tweet, her followers and well-wishers bombarded her with congratulatory tweets. Lauren Chamberlain, former American softball infielder for the USSSA Pride of National Pro Fastpitch, wrote, "Ahhhhh dopeeeeee!!!!" and Paige Dimakos, the COO of DraftNetworkLLC wrote, "BOSSS. ALL THE GOALS." "Girrrrl, you have officially arrived. That is so dope! Next up is a cameo on the show. I absolutely love the series and I hope this season does not disappoint!" one tweet read and another one said, "Keeping setting an example and the bar high, props to you."

The episode began with a huge wall spray-painted with his portrait and the words, "My thing is that I don't give no person that much power over my path that I'm walking. Not one person can make or break what I'm doing, except me or God," written alongside. 'All American' viewers praised the gesture by the makers on Twitter. "I just wanna say I like how All American paid tribute to Nipsey Hussle," one fan wrote and another said, "Watching All American and the first song they play is Blue Laces 2 by Nipsey Hussle. I’m already crying."

One fan, however, pointed out an error. "Nipsey Hussle died on March 31, they acknowledge his death on All-American Season Premiere but then mention that they’re just now coming off Winter break. Way to change history." As more episodes roll out from the season, there may be more such references to keep fans motivated.
