Who is Alexia Echevarria's first husband Pedro Pegy Rosello?
Alexia's marriage to drug dealer Pegy Rosello came to light following her appearance on episode two of the Netflix documentary 'Cocaine Cowboys: King of Miami, which documented the story of two friends- Los Muchachos aka Augusto "Willy" Falcon and Salvador "Sal" Magluta, who was accused of bringing more than 75 tons worth of cocaine into the United States from two major Colombian cartels in the '80s. The documentary also featured the close associates of these two men, one of who happened to be Pegy.
Growing up in poverty and watching his father struggle to make ends meet, motivated Pegy to make as much money as he could. Sadly, he turned to trafficking drugs to make a quick buck. He trafficked drugs for Sal and Willy, and soon became a prominent figure in the business thanks to his acumen and charisma. Pegy first saw Alexia when she was out lunching with her father at a Latin American restaurant in Miami in 1987. However, the two weren't formally introduced until he met her at a club a week later. "I think he was in the VIP [section], and I saw all these girls around him. I was like, 'Oh my god,'' Alexia explained in the Netflix documentary.
The couple hung out at a beach the next day, and she even spent that night at his apartment. Alexis first noticed a red flag when Pegy received a phone call while they were on the beach, After he answered the call, he suddenly told her he had to go and left immediately without offering any explanation. At that time, Alexia wondered if he had a wife or a girlfriend on the side. He later came up with an excuse and smoothened things out. The 'RHOM' star had no idea that her boyfriend was in the drug cartel business.
The pair ended up hanging out together at the beach the following day, with Alexia even spending the night at his apartment. He told her that he worked with his parents. The couple soon started dating each other seriously and got engaged. when Alexia was in the middle of her wedding planning, Pegy was indicted on trafficking charges in 1991. She was advised not to continue with her wedding plans as Pegy would soon be arrested by the authorities. Pegy was arrested in September 1991. When the cops arrived at his door, Pegy asked Alexia not to open the door. She agreed to his request and didn't reveal any details about Pegy or their relationship to the DEA. When he was out on a bond for a year, Alexia and he married and welcomed their first son Peter in August 1992.
Pegy finally decided to give up Sal to lessen his prison sentence and turned himself in to serve his five-year sentence but was released after four years. When he got out of the prison, alexia became pregnant with their second son Frankie. The couple divorced in 1996 on good terms. The housewife even dubbed him as a "great dad" to their sons on the documentary. Pegy is currently in the prison after having sex with an underage girl he met at a nightclub. He claims that the girl's ID said she was 21. National Inquirer reported that he is unrepentant about his crime and allegedly said, "It was a one-night stand. Her parents had me arrested. Things happen." He is scheduled to be released in 2022.
'Real Housewives of Miami' Season 4 premieres on December 16, on Peacock.
