Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez marches through Congress, demands Mitch McConnell hold vote to end govt shutdown
The shutdown was imposed last month on December 22 after Democrats refused to allow $5 billion to be put in the Congressional budget for President Trump's controversial border wall
Newly-elected Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez reportedly marched through Congress along with other Democrats to demand that Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell hold a vote to reopen the government.
The ongoing partial government shutdown reached its 23rd day on Wednesday making it the longest shutdown in the history of the United States. The shutdown was imposed last month on December 22 after Democrats refused to allow $5 billion to be put in the Congressional budget for Trump's controversial wall along the southern US-Mexico border. The Democrats, who do not appear to be willing to budge on negotiations regarding the funding, have described the wall as "costly and immoral."
