ANCHORAGE, ALASKA: A man was caught red-handed while engaging in sexual conduct with his service dog. He has been arrested and faces charges.

Alaska State Troopers had first responded to the Birch Lane address of Dewayne Koenig-Messer, 45, around 9:50 pm on January 7, after receiving a report of a sexual assault in progress, according to Alaska-Native News.

When they reached the scene, they opened a preliminary investigation and determined that Koenig-Messer's roommate, 29-year-old Aaron Cornelius, of Fairbanks, had sexually assaulted a female victim at the address. Cops subsequently arrested Cornelius on one count of 'Sexual Assault I' and remanded to custody at the Fairbanks Correctional Center.

A few hours later, around 2:07 am, troopers returned to the Birch Lane address to conduct a follow-up in the sexual assault case. When they arrived, to their shock, they found Koenig-Messer "engaged in sexual conduct with his service dog".

He was arrested on charges of 'Cruelty to Animals' and also remanded into custody at the Fairbanks Correctional Center. He had no bail set.

Authorities also uncovered that Koenig-Messer had an outstanding warrant for arrest on charges of second-degree vehicle theft that stemmed from a September incident where Koenig-Messer had used his husband's name to rent a silver Toyota Sequoia from a Dollar Rental despite being banned from doing so and then failed to return it.

He had hit a tractor-trailer on Steese Highway with the vehicle and fled the scene, following which police determined, despite being rented in his husband's name, it was Koenig-Messer who was the culprit because the husband was in jail for at least 250 days and could not have rented the car.

The Fairbanks Daily News-Miner also reported that Koenig-Messer was charged with misdemeanor assault in April for allegedly grabbing a man by the arm on December 4, 2018, at the Airport Way Safeway, flinging him to the ground and stealing his backpack. He was also charged for misdemeanor theft.
