Alan 'Bama' Williams: Heart-rending video shows murdered 22-yr-old's family sobbing profusely as he is taken off life support
MOBILE, ALABAMA: An emotional video captured the devastating moment a beloved son was taken off life support Monday morning, February 20, after getting shot in the head last week. Now, his organs are being donated in a final act of heroism.
The family of Alan 'Bama' Williams, 22, noted how the staff at University Hospital had gone "above and beyond" to accommodate their needs in his final moments. Dozens of hospital staffers were seen in video lining the hallways as Bama was wheeled into surgery to donate his heart, kidneys and liver. His grief-stricken family trailed behind, unable to hold back tears.

'Four people to get to live now'
Bama's doting father Alan Williams Sr, was crushed. “Knowing that was the last time I will see my son alive, or I will ever see my son, is terrible,” he told Fox10 TV. According to the family, Bama had been on life support since the shooting on Wednesday, February 15, and was declared brain dead. They are now trying to find comfort and closure that parts of him will live on.
“Donating his organs, four lives are being saved,” Alan Sr noted, adding, “I can’t ask for anything better than that. It took a life to save them, but four people to get to live now.” A family friend said emotions were all over. “I’m somewhere between very mad and very hurt because now his dad has to sit there, and his grandma has to sit there,” they told Fox10 anonymously, adding, “Everybody has to sit there.” Meanwhile, his father remembered his beloved son's personality. “Heart of gold and the temper of a hurricane,” he said.
'I heard two gunshots'
Bama's loved ones are now seeking answers. “I just want them to come out with all of the truth, why they did what they did,” the family friend continued. “The whole family wants to know why. They haul ass down there, and they take his life, and then they haul ass out, why?” they added.
The shooting took place off Kushla Oaks Drive. Surveillance footage showed the suspects, Trevor Dearmon and Jeffrey Holley, driving into the neighborhood and fleeing the area shortly after nearby residents said shots were fired. Surveillance cameras captured the suspects' truck bolting out of the neighborhood, with one of the suspects seen casually hanging off the bed of the truck. “I heard two gunshots, so I came outside, and I saw a truck speeding down our road,” a resident told Fox10 anonymously, adding, “It’s a small narrow road, and he was doing about 60.”
Authorities believe a fight broke out after Dearmon and Holley went to where the victim was staying. The victim was shot in the head and hospitalized in critical condition. The suspects, who were taken into custody hours later, are currently charged with attempted murder, though both are expected to upgrade to murder. Meanwhile, Bama's family has launched a GoFundMe campaign to cover funeral and other expenses. "A memorial walk for Bama took place this morning as he was wheeled into the surgery that would send him home while giving life to so many others. Funeral arrangements will be announced soon." organizer Jeanni Thrasher shared in an update on the fundraising page.
